Issues with co worker because of stopped car sharing from work

Hi everyone,

Co worker is fuming because I stopped giving him lift from work. I've had enough of this as apart from him I had to give his mates ( other 3 co workers ) lift here and there. No one ever paid petrol money. They were always approaching me for lifts regularly and I simply had enough of this so I told them all that I am going in different direction after work 4 times a week but I also added that even if that was not the case I would still stop lifts from work as I decided not to do it anymore for anyone as I am fed up of this. They basically made me their taxi service. 2 of these guys are deadly mad about it and they stopped saying hi etc. I don't really care much about them but one of them works in my section and it's not very nice atmosphere in there. I think he tries to make me change my decision by keeping his angry face and not talking to me. He is a 100% user. I would never change my decision as I am finally free. How do I approach this guy now after all this? Do I just ignore him? I am quite good at blanking people too.

Just be polite if you need to talk to him professionally and otherwise ignore

Making you change your mind by being angry and ignoring you? Well that's hardly going to work! Just carry on as normal but if he carries on being unpleasant I'd speak to your manager

Be a normal level of polite when working but you don’t need to try to be friends or over friendly and don’t respond to his childish angry faces. Ridiculous man.

If he keeps it up and it’s affecting the atmosphere and your ability to work comfortably then speak to your manager. He shouldn’t be allowed to bully you even with glares and sulking.

I would be inclined to speak to your manager and get on record what happened just in case they try to make any trouble for you.

He is trying to bully you into going back to the old arrangement. I agree with PPs, if this continues, have a chat with your manager so it is on record.

Good for you for showing your boundaries. Sounds like that was not easy.

I agree about letting your manager know just in case things get worse somehow. Nasty colleagues can make your work life pretty horrible.

I agree about telling your manager (factually without emotion) and speaking only to your colleague when it's to do with work.

I would also make sure you're parking where there is CCTV a in case he and his chums decide to let your tyres down or damage your car in any way out of spite.

Make your manager aware, be polite and professional to them.

You are not their mother - they need to arrange their own transport to places. Don't give in to their bullying.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am on annual leave right now, but when I am back, I will inform my manager about it so it's on the record in case they try to cook up something fake against me etc. You never know these days, they may seek revenge in some sort. Yeah this wasn't easy but luckily I have quite strong head and I had to cancel these guys for good from going in a car with me. They took my kindness for weakness but none of them knew that I see things clearly and I realized when they started taking advantage of me and I stopped it. We live and learn. If I could go back, I would have never agreed for any transport at the first place. Give them a finger and they will eat your hand. I also started parking right under the CCTV as this crossed my mind too they may try to do something to my car
