Moving house - proof of funds check

Hi there,

My boyfriend and I are currently in the process of moving house. We’re at the surveying checks stage and have just received an email from our solicitor about proof of funds checks that they need to carry out.

They’ve said “If the monies are all savings I do not need to see every penny saved however I do need to see a pattern of saving usually by way of 6 months bank statements”.

Please bear in mind that I’ve only ever rented before now so this is all brand new to me!

This might be a really silly question but for anyone who has gone through all of this before, do you know if every bank statement over the past 6 months needs to show the savings building up? There have been a couple of months over the last 6 months where I’ve not been able to save so only 4 of the 6 statements will show the savings amount increasing.

I might just be stressing over nothing but I just don’t want any unnecessary delays with the move!

I’d really appreciate any advice! x

Yeah you’ll be fine! I just sent six months of bank statements and didn't have anything going into savings on the statements.

It's a tick box thing so no stress

It's just to make sure you've not put 150k from your dodgy car wash business into your personal savings account.
It will be fine. Send the 6 months of bank statements, and cross it off your "to worry about" list 😀

It’s Money Laundering regulations. We are held personally liable if we don’t check thoroughly and the client is using dodgy money.
