Christmas Charity Spending

Not sure if other subjects is exactly the right heading but, anyway, I have been told about this website where a percentage of everything you spend goes to 1 or more of 6 named charities:

www.donateforfree.co.uk/

the charities are Oxfam, Shelter, Amnesty International, Children in Need, Cancer Research and Greenpeace. I think the prices are normal so you are just paying what you would anyway.

As you see I posted this last week - nobody repsonded so I don't know if anybody bothered.

It is a great deal for the charities - 5% of whatever you spend at a HUGE list of websites (includes amazon, argos, john lewis, carphone warehouse, M & S, majestic wines, WHS) goes to 1-6 of the charities featured (you can choose) and the price you pay is the normal one - I just checked with CDWOW - in fact I spent over 60 quid at CDWOW this week and forgot to do it via donatefor free so they missed out on 3 quid +.

It doesn't cost you anything. Please try it!

Thanks janh - I am such a technophobe that I am still nervous about buying 'on line' although I did order some smoked salmon to be sent as a gift!
I will definately have a look at this site though.

Thanks, scummy!
ks, no probs, but how do we go about doing the Giftaid thing? Our local Friends of Children of Chernobyl had a coffee morning yesterday and when we were leaving one of the organisers had a pile of special forms for us to fill in with what we'd spent and who we were, for GiftAid purposes (and obviously this only applies to those who pay income tax so I had to fill it in with DH's details) but generally speaking the charity doesn't necessarily help us out with this kind of thing.

Thanks, Lindy, too - your reply wasn't there when I posted before. Hope you too will find something useful!

Janh - I think my charity is on donateforfree too, so I think it's a great idea!
