I'm not sure where you've been... these are all very long-standing awards from different boards.
The Oscars are the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. An American film institution. (94 years old)
The Emmy award is the American television industry award (75 years old)
The BAFTA award is the British Academy Film Awards (74 years old)
The Golden Globes are international. (80 years old)
And yes, it's about the glamour, this is one of the best occasions for designers to also showcase their work, another creative industry benefits highly from it, as well as photographers, set designers, directors, writers, MUAs, stylists, journalists; it's a huge team effort for many.
Also, there are no apostrophes in these, they don't belong to anyone.
E.g. Oscars, not Oscar's, BAFTAs, not BAFTA's.
There are similar amounts of longstanding music, fashion, literature, and sports awards from different national and international boards.
What's your annoyance about it?
