comment i read on another thread. why should we be entitle to somethig physical back from 'them'
the government only provide us with healthcare, and free education, a safety net to ensure we dont starve if we make terrible financial decisions, roads and pavements, a legal system, police, fire, .... the lisst goes on.
so why do somepeople still feel they are not getting enough? perhaps they should go live in parts of the planet where all this would seem like complete paradise? because places like that are more abundant than places where the gvoernment does all this for you.

i always think if you choose to use private education/healthcare you should get a reduction on your taxes. wasn't there an idea a while ago where everyone would be able to choose whether to spend the cost of a child's yearly state education (about £3,500 i think it was) either to put them in a state school or use it as a contribution towards a private education. that seems fair to me. we all pay the same taxes, but if you choose to educate your child privately you aren't getting any education for your children back from your taxes and it is the same for healthcare.

Yes it does seem to be a 'good system' we have in this country doesn't it? Maybe why so many people are deciding to move here and drain the system even more?
Or maybe they move here to work and do jobs that people who already live here could do if they get of their beeehinds and got a job - instead of getting paid to sit on their ass and getting their rent paid for them, after all why would anyone want to work when they don't have to?

Amazes me how someone who moves to this country and opens a business or who works their butt off 13 hours a day working is slated but jobless people who wont work are not.

Blair going to war in Iraq WAS democratic. The people voted for him to lead the country and to make decisions on our behalf, even if unpopular.

DeeRiguer · 18/03/2008 17:21

branflake81
he was elected democratically
he took this country to war illegally...

whineywhingeybratsmom · 18/03/2008 18:02

in defense of the tony blair, i think it doesnt matter who the prime minister at the time was, he would have been compelled by that big bully accross the pond to do what he did.

waynetta, yes i did start this thread with your comment as the catalyst, but in your defense, i hadnt read everything you had written on that thread, and this is something that i have been thinking about for sometime. your comment was merely the catalsyt. not the main major reason.

oh, forgot, i have changed my name since starting this thread.
