How do you get chewing gum off wool?

If anyone will know, a mumsnetter will.

Ds got gum on the elbow of my best cardigan. Because it's at the elbow, and therefore not terribly visible, I don't mind taking risky action to get the stuff off.

Put it in the freezer. When frozen, remove gum and wash as normal.

Yep. Freeze it and chip off.

cranberryjampot · 19/12/2004 11:48

definitely freeze it and pick it off

MarsselectionboxLady · 19/12/2004 12:17

freeze it!

Not sure about for use on wool, but peanut butter gets gum out of hair.

SPARKLER1clausiscomingtotown · 19/12/2004 18:39

I've heard freezing works too! Good luck.

Thanks, everyone. I'd never heard of that freezing trick.

Unfortunately quite a bit of the gum had really gone into the woolI must have leaned on my elbows at some point not realizing there was gum thereso the freezing hasn't worked on those really deep-in fibers. I'm tempted to try Uwila's peanut butter trick now; am desperate.
