I wondered if anyone has any experience of these. Do you have to be reffereed to womens aid by social services, can children go with you, can people visit you there (I heard the addresses are confidential, can your midwife not eeven go there), do you share a room with other women etc?

Sorry its a lot of questions

You can ring up womens aid yourself, and they will tell you all you need to know. They helped us get away from my dad years ago..they sorted out train tickets, name changes, accomadation and whipped us from england to scotland overnight to a refuge where we had one big room and a shared kitchen/bathroom.
We stayed there for 5 months before the council housed us. We didnt have any visitors but then we didnt know anyone....you could alays visit the people you want to see..?
Children, yes definetly.
Dont want to nose so im just going to say Hope Your OK xxxxx

women's aid

Don't know if you've seen this site yet?

ring them yourself, you'll be put through to a central switcfhboard/helpline. If they have sopaces for you and your kids then they will take you in. but it may not be close to your current home. I went to one over 60miles away. Midwives, HV, and gp's can call there, as they are bound by confidentially laws.

I had my own room ,which i shared with my kids, sometimes single ladies have to share a room if overly full. Some refuges only have 4 or 5 families in, then they are move-on places (where u move into a smaller house when u dont need the support of the workers, just ebfore you get your own place). i mvoed into a 2bed flat with someone about 3months before i was rehoused, but the other girl was never there, so effectivly i had my own space.

I'll dig out a number for you in a bit.

(hows the pregnancy going btw? we havent seen u on march board for a while)

I gave stuff to the local women's refuge and contacted them by phoning my local council and asking for the phone number of the local women's refuge.

I hope you are okay Milkybarkid.
