Thought it was bad enough getting Xmas cards from work colleagues, but yesterday 3 year old dd1 brought home a card from another child at nursery. Please don't tell me I've got to write 20 cards for her nursery class! Bah humbug.

ds1 wrote about 8 cards for his friends at school (he's 5) and refused to write more for others who had sent him a card. Ds2 has had some from nursery, but wont be sending any back apart from to the staff and a couple of children whose parents I know.

And yes Moondog I was in that Leisure centre on Sat at a 4 yr old party- it was pugatory - and it was MY birthday too

I have to admit I was quite taken aback when dd1 presented me with cards after playgroup the other day! > ihadn't even considered that children would give out cards at age 3... however I toddled off to the shops and gota pack of cards and let dd1 tell me who she wated to give them to, which was only about 4 at one playgroup and 3 at the other playgroup. Insisted that she wrote her own name on them all (at least then it was an educational experience ) and also got a group gifts for teachers at the two playgroups, which cost a small fortune even though it was only a box of chocs each. But we are moving so dd won't be going back after New year so it was also a Thank You gift too, other wise it would've been a communal tin of chocs for each place!
The worst was when at toddlers this morning dd2 (age 2. 2) was given a christmas card by one of her "friends"!!!! She opened it and proceeded to eat the corner of it! I think it's madness to give them out at that age, they don't even really understand the concept of friends at age 2!!!

moondog - I'm the imposter dragon

moondog · 17/12/2004 20:58

Whaddya mean?
(Being thick here. is that you Puff?!)

Hulababy · 17/12/2004 21:04

Oh, I don't know xoz. DD is only 2 (and 8 months) but does like recieving Christmas cards for herself. She recognises her own name written down and gets very excited that it is jut to her from her friend, and not mummy or daddy's. She enjoyed "writing" on her own cards to her friends too. I quite like the idea of encouraging the niceness behind giving something (even if just a card) to a friend - simply because it is her friend.

Pa! Blooming imposter dragons ruining the good Dragon name.

The Dragonets wrote all their Crhistmas cards - around 30 each. DS2 (3.09) signed his name in every one of them.

moondog · 17/12/2004 21:13

So, DCDO is Puff then...? (I like Puff )
Not that I don't like you either...whatever your name is...

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 17/12/2004 21:17

moondog · 17/12/2004 21:36

Aaaahhhh....!!!

shortcake · 17/12/2004 21:45

WE haven't sent a single one this year - we are having a year off!! Might sound mad - but we are giving money to charity and saving time and effort. It's not that we don't care about the people we send them to but we will contact them all next year or see them inbetween. I don't think they'll even notice that they haven't heard from us. It is very freeing!!!!

moondog · 17/12/2004 21:46

AbsoLUTELY!!
Litmus test being do you notice exactly who has and hasn't sent you Christmas cards every year? Naaaahh!!
