I can't work. I can't concentrate. My maternity leave begins at 5pm tomorrow and before that i have to write 2500 words on something i find quite interesting. I've been trying all day, but i just can't do it. now i need a nap but there's no time. please, tell me off. tell me to buck up. tell me to stop logging onto MN. tell me to stop making cups of tea. be quite brutal.

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:15

I got paid a nice retention bonus for the last month of my work before maternity leave. I can say, hand on heart, that they did not get anywhere near their money's worth out of me in those last weeks

motherinfestivemood · 16/12/2004 16:17

Do you want to write a couple of articles for me, instead?

bundleofyulelogs · 16/12/2004 16:21

what about pre-christmas torpor? everyone can relate to that...

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:23

MI, roughly, what are they on? (see, more timewasting)

mine is an interview with a famous female funnyperson (i've even transcribed it so there's only the easy bit left). it went OK actually, it's not a dead dog. shall we swap?

BakedPotato, give yourself targets and rewards. Reward yourself with five minutes on MN or a cup of tea (or if you've had a particularly productive previous half hour, both!).

See - that way you get ten minutes an hour of MN, more cups of tea than is good for you - make every second drink some nice water - and your writing done!

What are you writing about? Women you've never met before telling you waht to do? Actually, that sounds dodgy!

xmashampermunker · 16/12/2004 16:25

Oops - posts crossed. I can read ;)

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:26

targets and rewards. OK.

i'm off now to do the first para. i won't be back until it's under my belt.

108 words -- yess, done it.

feeling bettter now, getting started is the worst.

OP posts:
bundleofyulelogs · 16/12/2004 16:41

what is your reward?

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:44

oh, just logging on, dancing around, bidding for attention. that's reward enough for me.

right -- off again!

bundleofyulelogs · 16/12/2004 16:44

well done that girl, go to the top of the class

wickedwinterwitch · 16/12/2004 16:44

ha ha doesn'tchristmasDragOn! Bakedpotato, can't you just, you know, not do it? Say you were too pregnant, your brain was addled. You're sorry but no, the words just wouldn't come.

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:48

[I'm not here you know]

[no, WWW, I have to do it. there's no way around it]

OP posts:
wickedwinterwitch · 16/12/2004 16:49

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:52

[thankyou, WWW! that's what i deserve/need]

OP posts:
wickedwinterwitch · 16/12/2004 16:53

But you're NOT getting on with it are you? Hmm? You're reading new posts on your thread...

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 16:56

[not responding to that because am currently churning out wordage, deep in frenzy of creative productivity]

OP posts:
wickedwinterwitch · 16/12/2004 16:57

course you are!

wickedwinterwitch · 16/12/2004 16:58

I have to go home from work now so will leave you to churn verbiage.

bakedpotatohoho · 16/12/2004 17:01
