i've changed my name for this but i'm a regular.
sorry for typos too but im feeding a baby whilst doing this.

a friend and i would like to open a local soft play but we dont know how to go about it.

we have no financial backing so im guessing we need a business loan?
if we did this who do we go to for it and what do we need for this?
would it cover the costs of a property to have this soft play?

also what about insurance? what do we need? is it expensive?

we have lots of questions as we're completely new to this but very serious about it.
where we live could really do with somewhere like this.

any help or advice would be really appreciated

Dh and I though about this and looked into it but just as we were another one opened locally!

You would need a loan, so need to get together a business plan, research the equipment and cost, suitable premises and cost rememerbing that any premises is oping to need PP or at least change of usage application.
Catering suppliers,cleaning/toilerty suppliers.
Google for insurance info
staff costs
Business rates
Contact an establised play centre near you and see if you van go and talk to them

I now someone who opened one, apaprantly it cost over 200k to set up! But it is lovely and massive.

You'd need public liabilty insurance, and have to be inspected by Health and Safety.

In my home town there is a small business advice centre that is free. Look on this website as well; www.becomeyourownboss.co.uk/prestartups/?gclid=CInmx6Ke4pECFRKHMAod61uwWg

my local one is very tired and tatty
it is rammed full all the time and there are endless parties etc
there are another 2 within a short drive which are much newer and nicer

so either the owners of the local one are raking off loads of profits, or even when it is operating at full capacity all the time, there isn't enough spare cash to freshen it up.

I can't see it being a big money spinner, can you?
