dd2 has taken to vomiting spectacularly all over herself on car journeys

(not all of them mind; she likes to mix it up a bit to keep us on our toes)

what do we do? can we dose her with something?

can you buy big removable bibs for them to vomit into?

Oh yuck. Not nice in a confined space.

I am pretty sure you can use Sealegs and the like for a child of 3. They work well and make them sleepy.

You can also get small Seabands which work on the acupressure points but I am sure I had used those on my two they would have fiddled with them and moved them from their correct position on the wrist.

Can you try other things like travel at night where possible? Keep the window open and try and encourage her to look out the front rather than the side?

night or day the same

they watch dvds in the car; but a lot of the time she is fine

then other times, good grief

This is goint to sound daft but my ds used to vomit in mil's car , purely because she used to fill him up with juice or food before they set off. The wrist bands are very good, my mum used to give me phenergan but it used to knock me out. The bibs wouldn't work.

You can buy a cover that is supposed to fit all group 1 car seats. Perhaps that would be easier than trying to take the main cover off all the time. I haven't tried this product, am thinking of buying it.

I wouldn't let her watch DVD's in the car tbh. Difficult if your other DC are doing it but it is like reading in the car and can make them sick.

My DS2 was able to cope with a CD player at 3 (he is 4 now and was definitely using one last year). My boys listen to stories to help pass the time so perhaps your DD could try it so she doesn't get bored if not allowed to watch the DVD.

You can get anti sickness tablets for travel sickness. Usually they would have to be prescribed by the DR for children, but its worth asking at the pharmacy first.
How old is she? The only one suitable from 2yrs is Promethazine Hydrochloride. Other antihistamines can be effective but some are not recommended under 5/6yrs.

Just checked my packet of travel sickness pills (Boots own brand) and they are suitable for everybody from 3 upwards. 3 yo's can take quarter of a tablet and they have kindly put a groove in the tablet to make cutting them up simpler.

I know someone who uses the fold up travel potty with the nappy bag in. They fold quite flat to keep in the car all the time and if she is sick then you can just tie the bag up (replace if necessary) and put it in the bin.

I don't know whether she's old enough to aim?

thanks everyone

tbh I don't think we could get rid of the DVDs now; they are used to them so would kill each other if they didn't come out

willmouse she doesn't complain of feeling sick first, it just happens immediately iyswim, so unless they travelled everywhere holding a potty not sure she would go for that

I think I will look into tablets; maybe I should get dh to ask at docs when he takes her to get her eczema looked at
