Mine is only 15 months and I really have no idea what a 5 year old would like for her birthday.. Can anyone help? In the region of £10-20.

Barbie Doll? Dressing up clothes? Game of some sort? Books? DVDs? Depends what she's into - could you not ask the DDs mother?

I have a five year old and she loves craft stuff - boxes of things to stick and make. Paints, glitter glue, paper. Anything like that.

I have ordered this Barbie Girl MP3 player for DD's 6th birthday. Reduced fro £60 (at Christmas time) to £17.99 so good bargain!

Thanks all. I know if I ask her DD's mum, she'll just say oh no need to get anything, but I'd like to.

Books or voucher of some sort. By the time they get to 5 your house is full of assorted plastic, multi-coloured crap that is rarely played with and not considered special. Failing books something crafty to do or make. Or offer to give mother some money for child trust fund. Children are so spoilt these days and the amount of tat they get is an environmental disaster. Sorry. Humbug.

Does she like drawing? I bought my 5 yo niece a metal case of pens, pencils, crayons, felt tips etc from the Disney Store and she adores it.

Moonsand
Pop up books
Arts and Crafts stuff

A set of Sylvanian family animals.
Someone bought my DD these when she was 5, they were a MASSIVE hit!
Or, a dressing up dress a la Woolies finest.

I love buying for girls because I've got two ds's. I usually go for pretty but quite practical things like embroidered hot water bottles or pretty cups or mugs. Jewellery boxes also seem to be well received.
