Relocating from England to Scotland

Not too sure where to start but will try my best...
I currently live in Essex, England with my 2 kids aged 5 and 13. I am in a relationship with a Scottish man, who lives in Glasgow. he has 3 children on his own aged 12, 18 and 20.
We have always known that we wanted to be together and do to this one of us would need to relocating. So after much deliberating and talking to family and friends, it is going to be myself who makes the move to Scotland. The area is nicer to where I currently live, house prices are much cheaper and it is just an amazing opportunity.
My 5 year old's Dad is not particularly happy as he does not want to be a part time Dad, but I am not the sort of Mum who would just up and leave with no plan in place. I am even starting to learn to drive so that it will make things easier on everyone. And I would do everything I could so that he could see him as much as he does now (every other weekend and time during school holidays). The 13 year old's Dad has said as long as he is happy then that is all that matters.
However as much as my partner and I talk about it I really don't know where to start. I need to find myself a job, them schools, register my 5 year old at a new hospital, sort my dog out until we get a bigger place...I sit down and start to makes lists about what we need to do, what I personally need to do and my head feels like it is about to explode with all the information. I know I am probably massively over thinking everything.
Has anyone ever shifted themselves across the country? Or is anyone in the same boat with moving children and their Dad's protesting? I guess I am just after some advice

Where in Glasgow roughly are you relocating to? What job are you looking for.... Glasgow is a brilliant place to live, within some areas there can be problematic issues so be careful where you go. It's an amazing place for kids with lots of fantastic schools.

I'm not surprised his dad is objecting. What your plans to facilitate fortnightly contact at such a distance?

Shouldn't your partner be helping you, seeing as he's from the area and already established?
