By two very nice, very young (!!!) policemen. And it was awful.

I had to drive to out nearest DHL depot to pick up a parcel. Had a card with very unclear directions on it, and from dp I had this "go on the M6 till you see the M62 turn off, go on the M62, come off at junction 11, turn right and it's there." This was at 9.30 this morning, I had to be home for 10.30 as dm, mil and best mate were coming then. Driving happily along the M6 when I saw that there were 2 exits for the M62 one going east and one going west. Knowing that if I stayed on, or took the wrong one I could be late back for the visitors, I pulled on to the hard shoulder to have a look at crappy direstions. No use - so I started off again, there were bollards on the hard shoulder, so I couldn't get much speed up before I had to go out into the slow lane but I did it without anyone hjaving to break for me. 2 minutes later - flashing lights and a siren. Bugger bugger bugger. Pulled over, a nice policeman came to the car and asked me to get out and get in their car. When I got in both of them were laughing at me for locking it "No one's going to nick it from there love!" So, told them I was lost, the looked at my map and gave me directions - then asked me if I had been drinking last night. Said I had and then they told me they were going to breathalise me as pasrt of a road safety campaign omg omg omg. It was horrible - not them, they were really, really nice, but I was so scared that I would fail. Last night I had drunk a bottle of rioja, my mouth went dry, my hands were shaking and they were describing the procedure to me - the main but being "if you fail, we will arrest you and take you to the station!". I didn't fail, but it really did give me a fright.

And still could't find the bloody DHL Depot!!

OMG - how scary for you. I too would be absolutely cr&^%ing myself. So glad you were ok, but it will make me think twice about driving straight away in the morning after a night in with a bottle of red. Sending you lots of hugs to help you recover from it - i think i would take to my bed for the day out of shock! Milge

Blimey Hollybet, hope you're OK.
I'll be driving home along there in about 30 mins, so will drive extra carefully if they're doing spot checks. Thanks.

Oooh once got pulled over after I'd left work at a pub. It was 1am in morning and I had drunk a half of lager after work so they breath...d me! It's awful. You're blowing away for what seems to be ages and all the lights are flashing on the machine.

I was negative thank goodness.

But it's scary, isn't it?

Poor hollybet - can sympathise. I once got breathalised when I hadn't touched the stuff for days - just my cr*ppy driving Blush.

It was last year, our entire household was ill and for the previous week I had been up and down all night with one or other of the dds. Was undoubtedly too exhausted to drive - pretty sure there are figures somewhere saying that x many hours of lost sleep is equivalent to x units of alcohol! Anyway, we ran out of milk or something and I had to drive off to the supermarket. Was apparently veering off to the left a bit and got pulled over and breathalised. Officer was most sympathetic when he realised I was a stone cold sober but kn*ckered mother (the car seats in the back probably helped my case) but told me I probably shouldn't be on the roads.

The really weird thing was that I was convinced I was going to fail the d*mn thing, even though it was physically impossible.
