First time posting a thread here, although lurked for a while, so may be a better place for this (I did consider AIBU, as I am about to lose my s* but thought maybe not!)

We've ordered our custom wedding topper off Etsy. It was shipped a month after she said it was, even though she'd provided tracking (only found out as I emailed to see where it was)

Topper (which I'm praying is in one piece) does exist as I've seen photos of it. It is stunning and I love it, but the whole process has been a rather large faff. I didn't realise it was coming from a non UK country until halfway through the process.

I've today received the following message, which fits with the tracking and the tracking number, so not spam

Hello, Your FedEx Shipment Airway Bill # REFERENCE NUMBER has been imported from outside the UK, it is subject to duties, taxes and fees of 94.8 GBP. Please click LINK to pay.

Who is liable for these fees? I was under the impression when ordering the costs for the thing, including shipping would be included in the main payment?

Am I just going to have to suck it up and pay it? It's an extortionate amount and it's a flipping topper not some massive heavy item!!!

Fedex have been really slow plus her sending it a month after she said it was sent. Thing is I just want it here at the same time (I suspect they won't deliver it until it's paid)

I have just had the same thing happen to me. I bought a rug and have just received a £55 fed ex bill. I am certain this has to be disclosed at point of purchase as it affects a customers decision to buy. Did you find anything out about this?
