Any mental health workers out there? Interview help needed!

I have an interview to work in a mental health trust (non clinical role). I'm OK sorting out the technical side of things, but need some terminology and general questions answered so I don't look like too much of a fool! I've tried to look these up but got conflicting answers / would like to have some confirmation from real people!
So

  • Do you have 'patients', 'clients' or 'service users'?
  • Do you talk about inpatients or admissions and outpatients or community patients?
  • Are there clearly defined categories anywhere? I'm sure I've seen some in a dataset somewhere but haven't been able to find them, e.g. EMI/learning difficulties/...
  • What are the big issues in MH at the moment? What's having an impact? I'm going to look through our health our care our say again and also on the DH website, is there anything else like that I should be aware of?

I work in a mh trust and we call people service users, or inpatients if they are staying in hospital. We divide services in to the following categories: working age adults, child & adolescent, learning disabilities, older people and substance misuse. As far as policy goes, it seems like there is something new every week - what sort of job is it?

thank you, you've answered most of them. those are the categories i was looking for.
It's in an information dept, so IM&T

Hi there
Views of service users are big news right now with the NHS and government. So are equality and diversity. Mental capacity, the client's mental ability to make their own decisions, is another.
Good luck!

Thank you, I'll look those up in more detail.
