I'm going to do a card from my son to my Mum for christmas, and I had the idea of having hid handprints on the front of the card..... Obviously I'd use paint to do this, but is there anything in paticular I should avoid, and whats the best type to use?

Don't go near oils.

Acryllic is safe but I'm sure other mumsnetters will know a cheaper way!

you can get non toxic finger paint and that works well - did it for dd1 when she was a babe. Got it cheap from Wilkinson's from memory.

Don't use household gloss paint.

Seriously though, bog standard children's paint is fine. Test on yourself to work out which comes off easiest. Peferably with babywipes for ease of cleaning!!

You can use the handprints as angel wings or reindeer antlers BTW.

anything non-toxic - try early learning centre

DoesntChristmasDragOn - That's a great idea! Think I'll use the reindeer one!!!

I'm going to steal your idea! I have some acryllic paint which should be ok.

Actually I think bean's nursery may have done this for me, the other day he had blue fingers, usually when he has paint on his hands they give me a picture he has done, but they didn't even mention it. Can't wait!
