If you never put anything but water in your toddler's bath...

I tend to agree with you. (Although I do use a mild soap if she's actually crusty and a mild shampoo if the yogurt really won't come out of her hair.)

After tonight's bath where a large amount of shampoo 'accidentally' got dropped into the bath and much bubbly foamy fun was had, I have been petitioned by dp and dd for some 'Mean-Old-Mummy Approved' bubble bath.

It's not an unreasonable request but I'm not sure what the best thing to get would be. (Best in this case meaning most natural, I suppose, or least likely to have an effect on her skin.)

Any thoughts?

I use organic bubble bath from the health shop. It's got no chemicals in it so it's kind on my son's skin (he's got eczema). Chocolate smell. Hmmm

tortoise · 12/02/2008 20:03

I use this on dd1 4 and dd2 3.

deaconblue · 12/02/2008 20:04

we use the little halo stuff which has lots of the dodgy chemicals removed. Also have E45 bubble bath that seems ok with ds' super dry skin too.

muppetgirl · 12/02/2008 20:04

We use natuire babycare stuff and they seem really good.

deaconblue · 12/02/2008 20:04

oh that's it tortoise, not little halos but halos and horns

Has she got allergies, sensitivities or any skin problems? If not go with the Johnson's - she'll smell wonderful!

BroccoliSpears · 12/02/2008 20:08

She has quite dry skin and is prone to occasional patches of eczema. Nothing dreadful though.

Johnsons's used here too - or Wilkinson's own if I am on a cheap week; it has never affected DS at all (and once I used Radox cos I'd ran out!)

BroccoliSpears · 12/02/2008 20:09

Does the Halos Baby Bath make a bubble bath?

I am an adult with excema and I can only use Infacare for bubble bath for myself

expatinscotland · 12/02/2008 20:11

I use Earth Friendly bubbles every other bath, and Napier's Mother and Baby soap for when they're really fusty.

DD1 has very sensitive skin.

Organic Children shampoo and conditioner on her ponytail - her hair is well past mid-back and tangles easily.

When their skin is dry, Napiers Infant Starflower creme all the way.

deaconblue · 12/02/2008 20:12

bubblebath

BroccoliSpears · 12/02/2008 20:14

I'm probably being a bit pfb-ish and she'd probably be fine with Johnsons or Wilkos, but I just don't like the idea of coating her in parabens or potential irritants.

I had eczema myself as a child and it's not fun.

I've just found the J.A.S.O.N range which is lovely and my ds always chooses his own bottle, it also lasts for ages which is a novelty!
My local health shop stocks it so you could try yours or online to find out more?

EffiePerine · 12/02/2008 20:18

I use the earth friendly baby stuff - not lots of bubbles but enough and it smells nice

I use Jasons organic stuff for me and for when DS and I bathe together and it doesn't seem to irritate him (he's 16 mo). A large bottle lasts for ages.

second infacare - ds has a tendency to eczema (lot better these days, thankfully) and infacare seems to suit his skin.

FourPlusOne · 12/02/2008 20:18

Think that the halos and horns do make a bubble bath - unless I have been accidentally putting body wash in as bubbles. Boots have an organic range that I sometimes use too. Can't remember what it's called. Don't often bother either, but tend to put some of this in and then let them splash around a bit - don't use extra bodywash then, just a rub with the flannel that's been in the soapy water! Don't know if mine have particularly sensitive skin or not but don't want to take the risk.

ruddynorah · 12/02/2008 20:18

i dealt with dd's eczema by doing the oats in the bath thing. now she has the halos and horns baby bath. you do get bubbles if you run the water very fast, but not loads and loads as it doesn't contain foaming agents.

FrannyandZooey · 12/02/2008 20:19

Green people stuff is lovely

check labels for parabens and SLS even on so called 'natural' 'organic' products
they often creep in

deaconblue · 13/02/2008 12:38

I don't htink you are being PFB-ish, sore dry skin is really horrible.
