He's very excited but has no idea what he will do. I've suggested things like craft, games, singing etc (like I did in Brownies ) but any further tips would be gratefully received!

A certain amount of charging about like a maniac. Some extreme silliness. Singing, crafts, games. Ds and his lot are working on their Discovery badge at the moment, so they are doing some scientific experiments (seeing how applying heat and salt affect the melting of an ice cube, and seeing how different amounts of light and water affect the growing of cress seeds). Huge fun! Our lot are divided up into riverbanks rather than Sixes like the Brownies,a nd ours don't have any sort of hierarchy (not Sixers or Seconds) but I don't know whether that's just ours.

He'll love it - my ds comes out as high as a kite. Mind you, he's usually as high as a kite, so no real change......

that sounds right up DS1's street especially the charging about. I'm sure he'll love it - he's just a bit shy and not sure if he knows anyone else that goes yet

He will probably find that he does know people - ds was very shy about it at first, but found people from school and from football club and never looked back!

don't worry Tommy, ds was in Beavers and now in Cubs with boys who ALL go to another school and he gets on fine with it. No close chums but it's all very friendly. He was hesitant at first too.
He seems to have spent a lot of time trying to start fires in the bushes behind the Scout Hut and rolling in mud
But they do some very thought-provoking and useful activities too - and a fair bit for charity and the community.
Good luck. Because we both WOTH full-time Cubs is a major logistical challenge for us but it has been worth it

I used to help out when my ds was a Beaver and it is like a more manic version of Brownies. VERY NOISY!!!
You will dissolve in tears the day that they 'swim up' to Cubs though
I'm sure your wee one will love Beavers.

he had a great time
He sounds like he's really into it - thanks all - I'm so chuffed

Tommy - enjoy it! MY DS2 has just 'graduated' to cubs, and I like jp said, I was very tearful. There is nothing like seeing our own little boy in a roomful of excited, noisy little beavers to make the whole parenting thing worthwhile
