Anyone had high sleeper from Argos and felt quality was ok?

Looking for right place to post this.

Looking for a high sleeper bed, pref with a spare bed, and my ds (9) has fixed on one from Argos. It's a lot cheaper than some of the other options I was looking at, so that's a bonus, but I've always been really disappointed with the quality of anything I've bought from Argos - just wondering had anyone else had one?

He wants this

I want this

DS just got the one your DS wants - it is BRILLIANT quality (VERY heavy and takes 6 hours to build on your own lol!)

He got the one with the storage under it rather than the bed, so I can't vouch for the extra bed, but the overall quality is good - I am impressed

I love your choice. it looks much nicer than the argos one.

do a search for Thuka. we just got the shorty mid-sleeper for ds1 and it's really, really lovely. would highly recommend them.
we bought from a nice company called rainbow wood

Alambil · 08/02/2008 00:01

The first one is a Thuka - just doesn't say so on Argos site; all the paperwork says so though

fingerwoman · 08/02/2008 00:10

yeah but it isn't as nice as the thuka branded ones.
the bloke in rainbow wood showed us the different timbers and stuff they use for the argos ones.

PeachesMcLean · 08/02/2008 00:14

DS has the argos one. It wobbles when he bounces on it, but then, all beds with slim frames and long legs will do. The mattress is crappola, we're looking to replace that. We're happy with it though.

VintageGardenia · 08/02/2008 06:38

Thanks for all the responses.

In a way I am disappointed at such positive responses because I really wanted the other one and was ready to say SEE? Mumsnet says your one is rubbish we can't get it.

Anyway ds is chuffed that he can now get his bed. DP figures if it took LewisFan 6 hours to put together alone it will probably take us 13 - 15 hours if we do it together...

LOL, Vintage, dd1 wanted that for her birthday. It's fine but we do need to get a new mattress for it - only 6 months old but she's complained the springs are sprining. She got it when the cushions were only available in cream too - the blue sounds more practical!

VintageGardenia · 08/02/2008 07:12

I know it's not practical but I think I'd prefer the cream - the blue's a bit on the electric side. I've heard that Argos mattresses are not great so I suppose we may as well get a proper one from the start.

Don't fancy climbing up there to make the bed I must say!

LOL @ 15 hours together!!

It is very simple - good instructions and it's obvious about which bit goes where; I just had to do it alone because I live alone and there was no choice lol

fingerwoman · 08/02/2008 20:02

the thuka ones don't wobble because the legs are much, much thicker and sturdier.
nice mattresses too

fingerwoman · 08/02/2008 20:03

thuka
I don't even work for the company either, before you ask lol

Bluebutterfly · 08/02/2008 20:08

this one is cool
