Thoughts on Waterpiks

Hi all, so I have chronic periodontitis, receding gums and very deep periodontal pockets. Terrified of the dentists after my last visit 3 years ago and have bad anxiety. I know I need to get professional dental help but for now I am trying to manage my teeth and gums at home whilst I get my anxiety sorted - I have tried everything but to no avail. I have just bought a Waterpik water flosser, I have used it 3 times. After a couple of uses I have noticed my gums are less sore and one of the very deep periodontal pockets seems less sore and tender and more smooth, still red but less so. Is it my imagination or is the Waterpik really helping my gums? Anybody had a success story with the Waterpik? Will a Waterpik work miracles on advanced gum disease?

I had this and yes go for a waterpik. Also look on amazon at gengigel which is an amazing healing thing for the gums. You will need flossing every day. There is great information on you tube and I like the tooth talk girl who explains very well

I have major problems with my gums. Always swollen and I have some minor bone loss and movement in my front teeth.
My orthodontist recommended a waterpik to clean round my fixed retainer.

My dentist seems very meh about the idea of them but I feel it’s making a difference and at my last appointment she said a lot of my gums were better. So I will carry on using it.

My hygienist implied they were a waste of money. Just stick with basic flossing and Tepe brushes

Opinions seem to vary among dentists, some say water flossers are better than regular flossing, some say otherwise. In my opinion which ever method suits you and that you will then use regularly is the best. I find regular flossing awkward, fiddly and uncomfortable and so avoided doing it, but I love using my water flosser every day.

Also I think the massaging action of the water flosser increases blood flow to the area more than regular flossing, and increased blood flow can only be a good thing.

Love mine
I floss then use the pic - debris comes out after flossing

I don't like flossing - makes me feel uncomfortable and sick so I use a water pick and it definitely helps.
