I am about to inherit jewellery which will require a valuation certificate. So what is the minimum amount a certificate is needed for? Thankyou.

You say you need a valuation certificate, but then ask what’s the minimum valuation a certificate will be needed for. I’m sorry but that doesn’t make sense. What do you need the valuation certificate for?

Because it is worth a lot apparently.I wondered at what price people got them valued from generally. Not particularly for insurance.

I don't think there's any level at which you require a valuation certificate as such. Normally you might get one for insurance purposes. Or perhaps in order to secure a loan against the item?

It's ok to just get something valued because you're curious. Because you want to know a little more about the jewellery you've inherited?

Is it for insurance purposes?
My house contents insurance only covers individual items up to £500. So jewellery below that value is covered but more expensive items have to have a receipt or valuation certificate and insured under an additional policy.
