Any advice of best coffee machine to make a proper flat white at home? Every review I read I’m aware are probably paid partnerships so wondered if anyone had some advice from experience?

I really don’t like pod coffee. I can think of a couple of options for you. I have a Delonghi Dedica. It’s idiotproof to use, comes in several colours, the cleaning cycle is short and easy. You can choose to use your favourite coffee, either pre-ground or buy a separate grinder. I love it because it also doesn’t take up too much kitchen real estate. You can froth milk in a jug with it if you want or just zap some in your microwave.

The other idea is to get yourself an aeropress which uses water from the kettle to make an espresso directly into your cup, or a stovetop moka pot (percolator) to make an espresso or long black and just add milk to your taste. You can buy plenty of moka pots in different sizes and colours - even from charity shops.

My DS has a Sage Barista Pro and he makes amazing flat whites, honestly the taste is unbeatable. I'm waiting to get a 20% off voucher from Lakeland to buy one for myself.
There is a bit of a learning curve to them but now my DS gets consistently great results.

Oh thanks both. I’ll look into those, I’m a bit of a coffee snog tbh, and would love to be able to mimic a really decent flat white, but whether that’s possible at home I’m not sure! I’ll look into those, thank you!

I use an aero press with decent ground coffee and then top with milk which I've frothed in a separate milk frother. I really enjoy it.

I don't think a pod machine is going to cut it for you. For a good flat white you need the mix of a really good espresso coffee and frothy milk stirred in. For the coffee, I'd say either the Aeropress or a mokka pot is ideal (then you just have to find the right coffee grounds for your taste) and I use this Lavazza milk frother which is brilliant.

I think it would have to be a milk steamer to get the right consistency of the milk……
