I wouldn't take him that small i haven't taken ds yet and hes 2

goingfor3 · 25/01/2008 14:46

SOme cinemas have babes in arms screenings where the sound is lower, worth looking out for.

MamaGenius · 25/01/2008 14:46

oh please don't

It really irritates the hell out of me when people take babies to the cinema

(a) its very loud for baby

(b) its very annoying for the other cinema goers to hear "waaaaaah", followed by hissed "excuse me"s as they leav the cinema

Babyramone · 25/01/2008 14:51

Marrygold don't know where you are but some cinemas do a Big Scream showing esp fof people with babies under 1.
The Cameo in EDinburgh does it and I'm sure others do to in other area.

Don't do it!!!

Unless it's a specific screening for mum's and babies then it is very unfair on other people.

i remember when i took my dd who was about 4-5months old and i used to go to the cinema with my dp...ahhh bliss as she was fast asleep all the way thru!

doggiesayswoof · 25/01/2008 15:06

I started going to parent/baby screenings when dd was about 3 months

I agree with others, do not do it if it's a normal screening - would be v irritating

(I don't think the sound is an issue tbh)

biglips · 25/01/2008 15:08

ps

i used to take my dd in the mid week afternoons

OverRated · 25/01/2008 15:16

Find a cinema that has a screening for parents with babies - they keep the sound down a bit and no-one cares if your baby makes a noise because they are all doing it. I wouldn't have taken DS to a 'real' showing as I'd have been too worried about him disturbing other people. I hate noise when I'm at the cinema and assume other people do too.

evenhope · 25/01/2008 15:16

I took mine at about 4 months. You can only usually take them to U and PG films during the morning or afternoon. She would watch a bit of the film, have a BF and sleep.

Took her a couple of weeks ago now she's 10 months and not quite so successful

But after having Transformers (a 12A) ruined by a family with 4 little children of about 3- 7 who they didn't sit with I'm now much less inclined to bother about disturbing other people.

I used to take dd2 when she was a baby; not many times, a couple maybe

she was bf and she would just feed and sleep

I remember taking her to the panto when she was 4 days old we had to take loads of cushions for my poor bottom to sit on
