Has anyone made any money doing this? I was thinking of selling Usborne books from home (to mums at school/nursery, to the girls at work, maybe holding a book party or two) to raise a bit of extra dosh but I was curious as whether it will be lots of extra work without much gain. Anyone done this?

I am an Usborne agent, have been since the summer. For me, it's about getting out, keeping my brain active and having a good time. I love books and I like meeting new people.
I think if you want to make more than 'pocket money' out of it then you have to put aside some time every day, get lots of people signed up as your downline (you earn something every time they earn), get your downline to sign up people as their downline etc.
I chose Usborne Books because the set up costs are very low, the product is good and the worst that will happen is you decide it's not for you and you've got a lovely collection of books to use for your own children or to gradually use as birthday presents.
If you're seriously interested and would like some more information then of course I have to suggest that you contact me, i'll send you the forms and you can be in my downline!!!!

Thanks Mckenzie - I knew there would be someone. I have already applied and been sent the info pack but it's useful to hear some positive feedback. I LOVE Usborne books particularly, so do my children, and I think that I can make a go of it. I work in the City part time but am looking to broaden my horizons and with my DS starting nursery after Christmas I will have the time to devote to it. But are people interested? Will they spend the money? These are the questions that I suppose I will only find out by trying.

Wish me luck and thanks for your advice.

hi again KBear. I was very disappointed with the results of spending the lunchtime at my ex-employer's staff restauarant in the City (huge bank, about 1600 go through the restaurant/coffee shop every lunchtime). Hardly any sales and the hasle of getting the books back to people just didn't make it viable.

Home parties are by far the best overall I think particularly if the host advertises it well amongst friends and family. Your upline wilol no doubt give you lots of ideas for getting sales.
I hope you enjoy it.
