Nursery Fees?

Would any of you be so kind as to let me know how much you pay for nursery?
per day/week/how many hours?
and what area you are in?
(forward planning here, will get in touch with some local nurseries but would like a “rough” idea)

Thank you in advance.

It varies a lot.
By which part of the country you are in, but also within Nurseries within a local area.

Many will also work out "cheaper per hour", the more hours they are there. So if the dc is only there two days a week, it will cost more than 2/5 of what you would pay for 5 days.

Then remember to make sure you are comparing like with like.......

  • how often are the Nursery shut?

  • what happens about BHs (esp if child attends on a Monday)

  • what is included / what do you have to provide? ....some Nurseries have a cook on site who makes fresh meals each day, others get the staff to make something simple, others have dc bring in packed food...... ditto what happens with Nappies / wipes / suncream ....... some Nurseries then want to charge you extra for outside people they buy in (yoga, football, music, French - I kid you not).........some provide all in one rain suits for the dc, others let you choose, others insist you buy things like that......

And to add to pp's list, it depends on the age of the child because as they get older and the staff ratio reduces, many charge less.

IME most have fees on their websites so have a look at some in your area and mainly focus on hours and what's included.

Round here (Surrey), an 8am - 6pm nursery with everything included for 51 weeks of the year for a 1-3 year old is about £95 per day. It's eye watering.

SpaceJam33 · 22/07/2022 07:04

£46 for full day 8am-6pm
Inclusive of breakfast, lunch, 2 snacks, nappies & wipes, sun cream if outside on a sunny day
West of Scotland

GalactatingGoddess · 22/07/2022 07:05

Like £490pm 2 days a week. (9 hr days)X

GalactatingGoddess · 22/07/2022 07:06

Minus tax free childcare = £380 pm

DuggeeHugPlease · 22/07/2022 07:10

£55 full day 7.45-5.45 (we only use 8.30-4.30 but have to pay for the full session regardless)
Extra for meals

That goes down to £50 after 2.

Lots of nurseries show their fees on their websites

cucumberegg · 22/07/2022 07:13

£60 a day (7.30-6) paid monthly across the year (inc paying for bank holidays and closure over Christmas etc)
Works out at £1025/month for 2.5yo who does 4 days a week and £765/month for 1.5yo who does 3 days a week.

Tax free childcare helps but it's capped at £500/quarter so doesn't quite work out at 20% off eldest child's fees

JustKeepSw1mming · 22/07/2022 07:15

£75 /day, 4 days a week.
Term time only. Food and Nappies provided. It is slightly cheaper per day if there 5 days a week. Berkshire

Ebonyhorse · 22/07/2022 07:15

Most of them in my area have all this info on their websites. It will vary hugely on here because people live all over the country.

BuffaloCauliflower · 22/07/2022 07:16

We use a childminder in Surrey, 27 hours a week over 3 days at 6.50 an hour. Works out about £700-750 a month going by calendar month, which fluctuates as sometimes there’s a bank holiday (we don’t pay for) or what dates days fall on etc

3amAndImStillAwake · 22/07/2022 07:17

£61 a day including food (breakfast, lunch, small tea, snacks). SE England.

Definitely look into tax free childcare if you haven't already.

Lockdownmummy · 22/07/2022 07:20

£79 a day 4 days a week, spread over 12 equal payments (so no variation depending on month). Includes meals and snacks but not nappies/wipes. Have to pay for bank holidays/staff training days etc.

8am - 6pm SE London

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 22/07/2022 07:24

Just expect it to be more than you think!

But I'm not sure what help it is knowing how much someone pays in a random part of the country.
Most nurseries in the local area will be similarly priced, except for the "chain" ones which will be more expensive.
Go and visit them and get a feel for them. You'll find the one that suits your baby.

Also don't forget to get your childcare account set up, the government will top up the.fees and you can pay child care directly from there 👍👍👍

Pac35 · 22/07/2022 07:25

Full time in oxford 7-6.30, 5 days per week= £351 per week

PurBal · 22/07/2022 07:28

£53 for 10 hours including meals. It’s cheap.

Thursday37 · 22/07/2022 07:36

£55 a day for full day 7.30-6 (although you can drop off/pick up whenever).
This is fully inclusive so you don’t have to provide any nappies/wipes/creams etc and includes all meals/snacks.

There is a small discount if they go 5 full days.

This is rural East Mids. There’s others that are £65 a few miles in other direction though too so it varies.

This is the price before the tax free childcare.

Sprogonthetyne · 22/07/2022 07:38

Currently I just use the funded 15 hours, when DC was younger it was 3.80/hour. We looked around for one that charged per hour, as partner and I could cover a lot of the day by offsetting hours, so only needed 5-6 hours in the middle of the day.

LeafHunter · 22/07/2022 07:38

Look at the websites of the nurseries near you. I’ve just checked and I can see the cost of eight nearby.

Daisy95 · 22/07/2022 08:06

We pay 70 a day or 35 for half session. We then pay an early and late fee too. So we do 1 full day of 7.15-18.30 and a half session of 7.15-1pm and pay £432.81 then use the tax free childcare service too.
That includes all food and drink.

ItsSnowJokes · 22/07/2022 09:03

It was £55 a day for 8-5.30. Had to provide packed lunch, nappies, sun cream etc........ it was the only place that offered term time only locally and it was amazing.

autienotnaughty · 22/07/2022 09:05

Move to the deprived north of England if your not here already! £36 per day obviously the people who live here are too poor to afford it

ForeverandAlways4 · 22/07/2022 09:07

North East - £800 PCM 5 days a week 9-3
Everything is included except nappies and wipes x

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 22/07/2022 09:13

West Yorkshire, 3 days a week.
1 year old - £740 a month (will reduce slightly when he turns 2)
3 year old - currently £330 a month including 30 funded hours. Will reduce a bit in September as our nursery works it out termly and the Summer term is super long

food included. Open 7.30-6.30

use tax free childcare so don’t pay that much directly although the above is what we’re invoiced

lucelou82 · 22/07/2022 09:14

£1600 a month full time!

lucelou82 · 22/07/2022 09:14

And I'm in Hertfordshire
