.....cats always throw up on rugs, carpets, sofas etc and never on a surface thats easy to mop or wash?

We have a tiled kitchen floor, wooden dining room floor, wooden hall floor and wooden living room floor with a couple of cream rugs so where does the feckin cat puke? Yes, on the cream rug.

..and while you're at it, why do they walk backwards when they puke, leaving a long trail?

Don't know but my dog does that too....

MAMAZON · 16/01/2008 12:15

cos they like to show you who is boss.

it serves you right for not getting them the good cat food like they saw on teh ad.

smurfgirl · 16/01/2008 12:15

Actually when my parents cats vomit they run themselves through to the (laminated) kitchen to do it

[smug]

OrmIrian · 16/01/2008 12:16

Dunno! But if you do find out please tell me.

I can answer the trail question. In our house it's because someone (generally me) is chasing them out of the room, too late of course.

Slouchy · 16/01/2008 12:16

Its cos they are GITS betty. Furry little gits.
Mine is now shut in kitchen every night and usually if we are out but he still manages to honk in the lounge if I turn my back. grr.

See you Friday!

Chardonnay1966 · 16/01/2008 12:16

My cat shat underneath the telly on a wooden floor this morning. I can't tell you how comparatively delighted we were about it. So EASY to clean for a change!!!

OrmIrian · 16/01/2008 12:18

Same here slouchy. Partly our fault because we removed the cat flap when we put a new door in the kitchen so she has nowhere to go. But I can let her out for half an hour, let her back in again and she still poos on the sitting room carpet. I think it must be a punishment.

BettySpaghetti · 16/01/2008 12:19

The "furry little git" must have done it during the night as I found it this morning when we were already in danger of running late for nursery and school.

Despite nobody seeing her/chasing her she still managed a long line of it so the "chasing" theory doesn't make sense in her case.

slouchy -see you Friday, looking forward to it

I think the reason cats probably walk backwards is because of

a) the force of it literally propelling them, a big muscle contraction for a little body - like when sitting toddlers sneeze and fall backwards

b) the fact that as they're being sick they don't want to step in it and need to move away

little feckers

TigerFeet · 16/01/2008 12:24

left mine overnight on Saturday, came back Sunday evening to find a trail all the way down the stairs [bleugh]

Still not as bad as the dried up pile I once found under the bed in the spare room. It must have been there weeks

BettySpaghetti · 16/01/2008 12:29

Actually, If I'd found a trail all the way down the stairs this would be her, with her bags packed as we've just had a new stair carpet fitted at great expense!

TigerFeet · 16/01/2008 12:38

we still have the manky old carpet that was there when we moved in 8 years ago - we are mid-decorating though and there will be a new carpet in there by the end of the year

[considers taxidermy]

BellaBear · 16/01/2008 12:40

my cat too. Does your cat sick always have bits of grass in it as well? Because that means that they meant to be sick, the gits.

Nik73 · 18/01/2008 14:08

My mums cat was sick in her hair in the middle of the night once, she had to get up and shower and change the bedding!!!

And she still let it sleep with her afterwards, mad!

My dog had a habit a few months go of being sick on the top stair(carpeted) right in the corner by the skirting board so it was impossible to get it all up. Never sick on tiled floor.
Ive got new carpet now and a stair gate

He also only ever wakes me up in the night for a wee on the nights im ill/exhausted or have been up fifteen times already with the baby. When ive had a good sleep and gone to bed early and not that tired, he sleeps like a log. He is also epileptic and only has fits on these nights too, just to piss me off i think.
