Don't know how to handle this. I don't really get on with my neighbour at all.
Have been putting mail through her door up to now, but am getting p*ssed off now.
After BT letter arrived yesterday, I phoned them for advice and they recommended I return it to them with a covering letter which I've done.
This morning a statement for a mail-order company arrived and I am so tempted to return it to sender.
I am worried that if she defaults on payments then it's my address that's involved.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

do you think she is using yoru address deliberately then? is probably just a mistake, does yours come before hers on those drop down lists?

coppertop · 16/01/2008 11:05

If it was a one-off genuine mistake I would've said just to pass on the letters to her. The fact that it's more than one company sounds very dodgy to me. I would send them back with a covering letter explaining that they have the wrong address for your neighbour.

I once had a parcel with my address on but someone else's name from a company i'd never even used! I just opened it up as I didn't know who the person was, but her address was on the invoice inside so I took it to her (a few streets away). She was blardy unappreciative and just went "oh, right" took it off me and closed the door. I should have kept it!
Sorry, got carried away, get a credit check, that will tell you what's going on at your address and if she's using it for things she shouldnt' as hers is black lsited or something. Don't mean to panic you, just worth checking.

If you dont get along with your neighbour at all, then I'd send all the letters back to the sender with an explanation just in case it is anything dodgy, to cover your back!

WanderingTrolley · 16/01/2008 11:09

Agree with Bibi about the credit check.

Ask her to correct the address with the relevant companies. Tell her as of next week you will putting 'Not known at this address - return to sender' all post with her name and your address.

Hulababy · 16/01/2008 11:12

I would send them all back to the sender, with a note saying that the person doesn't live at this address.

Macdog · 16/01/2008 11:53

Thanks for all the advice everybody.
I telephoned the mail order company involved and it appears to have been a mistake that is now rectified, but not before the invoice was sent.
Hopefully it's going to settle down now.

Hi all!
Funny one and I’m not sure if I’m being too fussy but looking for some advise- I live in a flat which is a house conversion so other flats are listed A or B.. I have had some troubles with my neighbours at A going on a year and a half now for minor issues but for the past year I’ve noticed they send all their parcels and deliveries to my address. This can be from online purchases right up to furniture/ sofas. On some occasions I’ve felt like they’ve been aware as they here my doorbell, I answer the door and to save their inconvenience I’ve accpted the parcel and left it in our porch but often here them creeping down the steps as if they are fully aware of what their doing and waiting for me to take it. I’m not sure if I’m being paranoid but our property is old and registered for all flats so there is no problem in selecting the flat you wish to deliver to when making an online purchase but my additional problem is I’ve preciously had debt collectors from them at my door and had to prove my identity and i feel they are aware as their letters are all correctly addressed but not their parcels and deliveries.. I’m telling myself the next time I get a knock on the door to accept their parcel I will refuse it as I’ve recieved 2 this week and left a polite note requesting them to correctly address their packages yet it doesn’t seem to work. Does it seem like fraud? I am not sure how to solve this further

Hiya. So I have no idea how to go about this. I am in the same boat. I can't have amazon etc and when I contacted them, they said my address is under investigation for fraud. I can't order online atall from anywhere I get blocked. My neighbour has parcels sent here every now and then. So I asked him why and refused to give him. He said he got the door number wrong. Also the parcel was tracked. I don't no what to do about it
