My dd is driving me mad talking about them.It reached a head when she asked for "Something cheesy and minty" in her packet lunch today and I finally snapped - "There's no such thing as Cheesy Mint Balls!"

Unless one of you esteemed mumsnettres can advise differently, of course!

Cadbury · 24/11/2004 17:26

Have you asked her where she heard of them/saw them? Sometimes that helps with my son's more bizarre requests. And sometimes he just makes them up in his head!

mouseman · 24/11/2004 17:34

cheesy meat ball?

Cadbury · 24/11/2004 17:37

JJ I think that's what she's done. I have asked her but she hasn't come up with a sensible answer.

Mouseman - that was the first thing I thought of but it's definitely mint.

I know she has a vivid imagination but she's never made up food before.

She has just told me that a "mouseling" gave one to her so she took it. Now mouseling would suggest something from Angelina Ballerina but I don't remember reading about any (and believe me, I know every book by heart).

I'd probably eat them after a few beers...

Cadbury · 24/11/2004 17:57

Well, I've just read all of dd's Angelina books and there is no mention of them in there. She has a couple of videos but I'll be damned if I'm going to sit through those now.
Well they sound yucky to me but . . .

Did she mis-hear the 'mint' bit? That's happened to me. (I mean, I've mis-heard things before!)

Too bad the combination sounds so bad. Otherwise, you could just make it up!

Carla · 24/11/2004 18:09

mishmish!!!!

PreggieMum · 24/11/2004 18:11

I've had feta cheese and mint balls in a restaurant when on holiday and they were actually really tasty (and no I wasn't pregnant at the time). Not something that I would usually have chosen, but sounded unusual. I think it was a Lebanese dish.

Will have a search on google to see if I can find a recipe!!!

SantaFio2 · 24/11/2004 18:12

gosh cadbury, she wants a lebanese dish in her lunchbox

cant beleive they are real preggiemum

PreggieMum · 24/11/2004 18:17

Here we go this sounds like it could be the recipe here

nasa · 24/11/2004 18:57

that's it cadbury, she's clearly highly advanced in the area of tatse . Next she'll be asking you for poached seabass with lightly sauted potatoes and a rocket salad.

Cadbury · 24/11/2004 19:17

Hmmm. She can ask, and I'm quite willing to let her believe that her boof stew and mash is exactly that but unfortunately, she isn't very gullible!
