The man is infuriating.

Is there a step by step process to go through in 'securing' the lost phone as I am very worried about sensitive password info held on there.

It did have auto lock on the phone but a knowledgeable person might be able to get into it? H has reported it to our network provider who have transferred the sim to a new phone - but presumably someone could still get onto the original stolen phone, and whilst not able to make or receive calls, be able to access info stored on there?

We were able to track it from my daughter's phone to the High Street in a town half an hour away, near the EE shop and at that point dd reported it as lost on 'find my iphone' which apparently makes the iphone unusable? Is that so - is it now impregnable? She has got it to display a message saying 'this phone has been stolen please ring this number (my number) if found'. She also got it to play sounds remotely (to freak out the thief), and shortly after that we tracked the phone to the town's recycling centre so presumably its been tossed.

Are we covered or will our bank account and various others accounts be compromised?

Have you changed those passwords now?

If you are tracking it, are you using “Find My”? There should be an option there to wipe it completely.

This might work:

Enable Find My iPhone: Go to Settings, enter your Apple ID, and tap Find My > Find My iPhone. Toggle to the On position.
Log in to iCloud in a web browser. Select All Devices, choose your device, then select Erase iPhone.

Just change the passwords, very simple! Not a bad idea to do this regularly anyway.

Its not my phone - its H's. He is an idiot. He has a temporary phone which isnt connected to his car hands free and is currently on the motorway. Speaking to him right now is impossible. Dd can probably wipe his locked phone remotely from hers and then he could retrieve the info on the icloud. I think he is planning to get to the apple store before 8pm when they close

Yeah, he can't do that when the only place they are stored on is his lost iphone. However they should be on his icloud but as he is driving atm that will have to wait
