Right we are off to Lille this week (Just DH and myself!) and travelling via Eurostar. Haven't got first class tickets but would like to know what it is like - food on board etc?

You don't get food in standard I think - there is a buffet car though - guessing its the same food sold that you get in first.

The new terminal is supposed to be lovely though - I would get fancy schmancy food from a sushi bar and a bottle of champs before boarding if I was going standard

Bloody love it. The most civilised way to travel. Swan on...swan off. Walk around the train if you need to stretch your legs. None of the airport grossness. I wish you could go everywhere on Eurostar

Food is meh - I always take a bag of stuff to eat myself, cheaper as well.

Great , I did think about taking our food on board as normally buffet cart prices can be a bit silly.... Really looking forward to it as I love train travel. Is there any nice hot food shops at the new terminal does anyone know.

I have been on Eurostar well over 100 times... .

There are two buffet cars in standard class where you can buy snacks and sandwiches.

I live in Paris and my parents live 1/2 hour from Ashford

Anna8888 · 14/01/2008 15:52

Probably more like 150 times...

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 15:52

but the train was fab brussels in 2 hrs

3missys · 14/01/2008 15:53

So would you know if there are any hot food shops at new terminal. Considering we will be departing in the morning so a nice breakfast treat would be nice!

The food is dreadful in coach

Take your own

3missys · 14/01/2008 15:54

Lille is meant to be only 1 hour 20 minutes, so quick!

www.stpancras.com/eat here you go! I'm going on it in March and really looking forward to the trip.

noddyholder · 14/01/2008 16:01

I am scared of it but think it is fab!

3missys · 14/01/2008 16:05

Thanksgoingfor3. Why are you scared noddyholder?

Have been on it several times from Ashford to Paris and Lille and Disneyland Paris. Only in first though where they feed you (although the DLP food is a child's lunchbox)..

I'm not scared of the tunnel as its in and out before you realise (oo er missus)

What I find scary is the car tunnel

noddyholder · 14/01/2008 20:58

well i'm used to that cam so i should be ok!Don't know why i'm scared though as I really want to go on it

Furball · 14/01/2008 21:09

fancy going to paris via eurostar but websie recons it's £81 to get there and £185 to gt back wonder why it's a hundred pound more to return?

3missys · 15/01/2008 10:29

Furball I saved my tesco clubcard points and converted them into 2 x tickets so they didn't actually cost me anything! I thought it was £100 return though?

I was really disappointed in Eurostar - grubby and cramped and like any other train

3missys · 15/01/2008 13:08

Well I am still looking forward to it if but if I do find that that is the case it is only 100 minutes each way and tickets were free anyway.
