Hi just looking for abit of advice on whether I will get awarded DLA for my daughter?..I got the letter that they received it on the 1st of April but have not heard anything else since. I also put the ECHP form in too as she gets one to one in school. She is currently getting diagnosed with ADHD an ASD. Any advice appreciated thanks

It depends on what evidence you sent in as part of your application e.g doctor/paediatrician letters, evidence that your daughter needs more care than another child of the same age.

My 3 year old son has recently been awarded middle rate DLA without any formal diagnosis. He has global development delay which means he has missed 2 or more milestones. He has one to one support at nursery and I asked them to write a statement to support the application. Took around 10 weeks to get a decision and the payment was backdated to the date our application was received.

There’s a really good group on Facebook for parents of children getting DLA. Lots of really helpful information. Good luck!

Hi,

The evidence I sent with my application was a letter off the school, her ECHP form and also her appointment letters for motoring skills and senco. The school advised me to apply for DLA. Thanks for the reply.

@Bennyboy94 it really does depend on her care needs compared to another child her age.
My son has an autism diagnosis and global developmental delay, he is in a sen school, my son is 6, non verbal and in nappies, he cannot see to any of his personal care, shower, toilet etc, he doesn't sleep much so I'm up in the night with him, he receives higher rate care, as I said it really does depend how her care needs differ to another child of the same age.

Hi everyone I am looking for a little help , I sent a change of circumstances in for my son scan date 7th April , called yesterday to be told my form will sit for 17 weeks before it can go to a DM I am not fully understanding why it has to sit for 17 weeks anyone got any information on this would be great .

safefirst · 02/06/2022 14:15

@Mumabear239 it's due to the backlog of work decision makers have, too many forms coming in and not enough decision makers, 17 weeks for a change of circumstances sounds about right. And change of circumstances is normally lowest priority with dla so it just sits waiting for its turn in a queue to be allocated to a decision maker,

Mumabear239 · 02/06/2022 14:18

@safefirst i was told it’s in holding queue so you think I will be waiting another 9 weeks as am 8 weeks in .

safefirst · 02/06/2022 14:20

@Mumabear239 yes you will more than likely wait that long, when I done my sons change of circumstances it took around 18 weeks.

Mumabear239 · 02/06/2022 14:26

@safefirst thank you now I can just sit and wait I thought they where pulling my leg by saying 17 weeks
