What do orbs look like?

Apologies in advance for what is probably a really strange question! I recently spent a week at my parents house and my mum and 17 year old brother spent the whole time telling me why they thought their house was haunted- fine during the day but scary during dd's night feed! I didn't really pay much attention but after I got back my brother downloaded some photos he took of dd with his digital camera and claims that there are orbs surrounding all the photos of dd. He emailed me one of them and I admit there is a small ball of light round her but have no idea what it could be!
Apparently the lens on the camera is clean and the 'orbs' are in different places each time despite the phots being taken in quick succession in the same position...

Any suggestions? I normally wouldn't listen to him but my otherwise sensible mum is backin him up!

I've no idea how to post the photo anywhere for you to have a look

Not very, I'm not convinced it IS an orb. Go on, have a look! I think Linnet's is more like an orb personally

I can't remember if I took that photo of my dd or not it was a long time ago, she's now 7. I have photo's of my dd taken by other people that also have these orbs in them. One photo that was taken of her in her nursery class even has one in it.
I also have a photo of me taken at my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and there is an orb just like the one in that photo that I posted.
My mum died when my dd was only 4 months old, that first photo, the one I posted, was taken just a few weeks after she died. I like to think that those orbs are my mum. I'd never realy thought about them until the photo of me at the party was developed with the orb in it. the only person who wasn't at the party was my mum, the rest of the family were all there.

All very sixth sense stlye, interesting stuff.

Sorry to spoil the mystery but a recent TV programme totally debunked Orbs. Apparently they are caused by dust particles floating inches from the camera lens, that reflect the flash light of the camera (even the infra-red light of a night vision video camera). The dust shines in the light but because it is so very close to the camera the dust is not in focus giving the appearance of glowing floating orbs.

I used to love the 'most haunted' show and was mystified by the orbs... now I just love the fact the producers seem to have picked the most nervous and easily terrified female presenter to shove in dark 'haunted' cellars

She IS the producer HarrassedDad or at least the boss woman. Her and her husband write, co-ordinate, produce the show themselves. I think she puts alot of it on to attact ratings.

I thought I would re-start this thread. My parents took this photo in our new house and this wonderful blob appeared on the front of my brother's top.
I had been telling him that I thought our house had a "presence" and he had to email me this when he got home!
what do you think?

Levanna · 27/12/2004 17:09

Harrasseddad, what about when I see them with my own eyes (for example), I mean it can't be put down to any reflective light (due to lens or infrared) in that instance, can it? I saw a particularly clear one recently, it was in a lit room, no shadow or reflection interference, nor was it a dust particle, moth or fly .
In a photo I think it can be hard to tell. I have found that it's not just what I see, but what I feel at the time of a sighting that leads me to believe it is something out of the ordinary.

TheCattleWereLowryn · 27/12/2004 21:29

but does my photo look spooky, or is it just dust?

OOOHHH Look at all of the cute pictures

I have seen quite a few pictures of Orbs and this is a hard one as it is circular in appearance and so could be a speck of dust......In Linnets picture i would say YES for sure....also the orb is not see-through where dust tends to give a see-through light affect.

Try taking lots of pictures and see what you get.
