When DC3 arrives in August there will be a 21 month gap between DD2 and DC3 - Do I need a double buggy ?

There is a 28 month gap between DD1 and DD2 and that worked fine, I had a Mclaren stroller for DD1 if DH and I went anywhere that involved a long walk and I had a buggy board for when I went out alone with DD's.

I hate double buggies, the are soooo ugly - I am going to have to give in aren't I ???

AARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!

Sling for dc3 and stroller for dd2?

I do this with dses 1 and 2 (28-month gap but living in a city, sans car, and having a 10-15 min adult-speed walk to public transport neceassitates buggy use) and it's almost always fine.

I don't do lots of walking, DD1's school is too far to walk so we drive that each day - the only place I walk really is if I go shopping or we go out for a walk.
Hadn't thought of a sling - are they comfortable for all ?

If i had my chance again, I would buy one of those phil and ted double buggies - expensive - but they look great. I have a double buggy but I would prefer a phil and ted. I found the buggy board hopeless, and it gets tiring using a sling all the time.

It depends as well on how much you walk. If you walk everywhere like I did, then it will be hard to go without a double pram.

TBH, I don't think the cost is a major factor - I have spent alot on both DD's buggy's in the past.
Teh Phil & Ted's seem great in theory as I could get a sinlge one but with the attachments for a double to use if and when necessary but I think they are ugly and seems a bit mean to have one up front and one tucked at the back, I'd feel like I was chosing favourites

Depends on the type of sling. I have this marsupi which I am utterly evangelical about. I can only find German pages on them, but they are safe, comfortable (I wear ds2 several hours in one on a typical day) and easy to use. When he is bigger I'll switch to an Ergo-type carrier - not the Ergo though.

I had a 19 mths age gap between my 2 Ds, and had a buggy board from about 27mths (the seat 2 go one so he could sit on it)

One in a sling didn't work for me, but perhaps it was the wrong sling.

You prob will need some form of double for a few months though.

PS. I agree re the P and T - I think it looks horrid to have the baby in the shopping basket!

You are the first person who has agreed with me isaidno - everyone else raves about them !

Am wondering if I can maybe get a normal pushchair for DC3, get DD2 a Mclaren stroller or the like and try to get by .....
Can you tell I really don't want a double ?!?

If you really really dont want to get a double then why you get a buggy board (if you think DD2 will stay on it!)and a sling and give it a go for a while. If it doesnt work out you can always give in and get a double once DC3 is here! I just bought a seat 2 go buggyboard for a good price off ebay and I got my sling off freecycle!

fryalot · 11/01/2008 09:24

Have you thought about something like this for the short term until a buggy board is more suitable?

lp77 · 14/01/2008 23:11

i had to buy double buggy recently yeah not great but necessary in short term
I got cosatto duet lite, reasonably priced folds easily could've got others but this was east to steer etc, not so good is handle height for me good luck

mumo75 · 15/01/2008 21:59

i had an Emmaljunga pushchair with a toddler seat
it was great, can take toddler seat off and just have a single pushchair

We used one of these.
It has two levels so the older child can stand on it, facing forwards, or sit facing you.
