do you like this bath

Ooh I like it.

I have my old bathroom on my profile - I have added you to my list of mnmates so you can see it.

The border was aluminium, brushed effect and the tiles were a kind of basket weave. Matt black floor tiles. I recycled the units, otherwise I would have opted for a different finish.

You can't see full effect but it was very nice.

silkcushion · 09/01/2008 21:16

Yes I do like it but you'd have to plan whole room around it. Also is it going to be good for long indulgent baths with book and glass of wine.

Am thinking of redoing our bathroom too. Waiting for useless company to drop plans in (they said I'd have them monday) - so am keen to see what responses you get

Prufrock · 09/01/2008 21:17

We had ours done last year twig - it was in a magazine so I can send you the article if you e-mail me your address.

Prufrock · 09/01/2008 21:17

I have to say it's bloody gorgeous. Big limestone tiles, built in steam room/shower (tiled in smaller limestone, not a plastic contraption) with overhead and pulsing hand shower, teak bench, mirror and colour changing leds. Then bath set into a solid stone step with spotlights in floor, infinity mirrors on wall (bit like this but 2 long and narrow horizontal ones in blue). this towel warmer and this cabinet/tap (yes - the water comes out of the mirror) above an egg shaped white stone basin set on a granite worktop with a concealed wooden drawer. Loo is behind a glass door, but whole room is open to the bedroom (but behind wall that bedhead is on iyswim) so I can lie in the bath and watch Tv!

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:20

Margo .. (loving the name) .. there is no bathroom on your profile

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 09/01/2008 21:24

okay - I've changed it - could you only see fairies?

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:24

have emailed you prufrock .. to the hotmail address I have .. will you tell me how much your bathroom cost .. roughly?

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2008 21:25

twiglett, have you ever checked the website of Living Etc? They have lots of pictures of different rooms, bathroom included www.livingetc.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=19

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:26

aha the point about having long indulgent baths with books is good .. where would the glass of wine go?

to be honest .. we're rather spoilt with bathroom size .. it's a biggish space (a converted double bedroom)

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 09/01/2008 21:27

Prufrock - very swish.

I've got a victorian effect bathroom now - white brick tiles and black border, it was recently put in but I don't like it.

handlemecarefully · 09/01/2008 21:28

oooh no (sorry) - and it might look dated fairly quickly because it is such a contemporary design. Still if you like it, that's the main thing

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:29

I quite like this shower but it demands a really modern space (victorian house)

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 09/01/2008 21:29

I have a real problem with bathrooms being a soothing place. I'm obviously doing it wrong.

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:30

ooo I love Living magazine .. have logged to favourites ... off for a mooch around that site

OP posts:
Prufrock · 09/01/2008 21:35

No - not saying, not on here anyway as it was a disgustingly huge amount (though I did get teh bedroom redone as well, and had to raise the bathroo floor to accomodate the only place the loo could go in new design. I'll email you when I get yours (was it to prufrock at hotmail dot co dot uk or my real name?)

For top end fixtures try hansgrohe, kohler, dornbracht and volo - they have "lifestyle" pictures on their websites

Twiglett · 09/01/2008 21:35

thanks Margo .. nice use of space there

Prufrock .. do you really have that towel rail .. that's so funky .. so you neatly roll your towels do you? (cannae see that happening in house of Twig)

OP posts:
Prufrock · 09/01/2008 21:36

no - towels tend to get hung through end gaps or thrown onto bath.

ComeOVeneer · 09/01/2008 21:38

this especially if it came with the view

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 09/01/2008 21:46

..and a cleaner COV

ComeOVeneer · 09/01/2008 21:49

...and no neighbours

JingleyJen · 09/01/2008 21:51

thanks for starting this thread - we are having our bathrooms changed at the end of this month - there are still some things that we are finalising and some of the links on here have provided inspiration.!

Prufrock · 09/01/2008 21:53

Actually just realised my interior designer has my bathroom o their website - most of rows 6,7 & 8 here

Maidamess · 09/01/2008 21:56

Prufrock, did you really spend that much on a towel rail???? My jaw has hit the floor.!

Maidamess · 09/01/2008 21:57
