Anyone had a clown?

I have almost decided to give clowning a go, to earn some extra money. You know, for kids birthday parties and so on. With all the parties I've thrown over the years, organising games, and entertaining should be simple enough, and I'm good at face-painting as well.

So has anyone had a clown, and what did they do exactly? Will games, jokes, and face painting be enough? I want to do balloon animals too, but can't find the bloody balloons to buy.

The clown we had did magic tricks and lots of jokes. I can't remember much else. He had a large hand puppet and helped to serve tea. He shouted in my daughters ear and she hated him from that moment on - he was shouting happy birthday when the cake came out.

We had a fairy last year who did balloon animals, pass the parcel, musical statues/bumps/scarie faces and parachute games. She is very popular, since we ahd her about half the parties my girls go to have her - she has an older disco theme version as well.

Hawkin's Bazaar do a small pack of these balloons but you must be able to find bigger packs somewhere. www.hawkin.com/rkmain.asp?PAGEID=20671 my links don't seem to work

LOL Whizz, the Fairy idea is a good one WW, as many children are afraid of clowns. I could advertise as a clown/fairy.
