Yes, I am sat here in bed contemplating the intricacies of knitting.

I think it is a worth-while skill to have, especially as a parent so was wondering:

Do any MNers knit?

Can left-handed people do it?

Is it a cheap or expensive hobby?

How hard is it to learn?

Where can I learn?

Ok, will go to sleep now!!

I am just sewing up dd's Cascade sweater . It even fits her, hurrah. Goat, who are you? If you come to Bruntsfield with Pruni (though why she is coming when she is on a yarn diet I do not know ) do come in for coffee. Beware though, HK doesn't reopen until the 9th.

Lewis, I would recommend finding bargain but still non-acrylic yarns- much nicer and easier to knit with IMHO. JL have a sale on if you have one near you, and Texere have lots of bargains. If you just want a couple of balls to start you off let me know- I always have odds and ends. I did this for NQC who is now a master knitter

Well, you'd be very welcome TGOB, especially with a name like that I agree about JL, I got some Noro Cash Iroha half price though, so it was worth it for that, but otherwise not a great selection I agree.

The 9th????? Bloody hell. That's next Wednesday.

Easy introduction to dpns...legwarmers? I quite fancy knitting some, esp having seen a clip of Fame last night.

Or, similar theme...wristwarmers?
