I’ve noticed increasingly many posts on MN where a question is posed and within the OP’s post they refer to something to provide background or an example. The actual question posed gets ignored and the replies are all regarding one comment within the post.

For example there was a MN post when a question was asked whether to confront or ignore an questionable message received from a coworker and the OP received numerous responses regarding her own part in the message exchange and criticism of the way she responded.. Hardly anyone advised them whether to ignore or confront.

If I’m completely honest I’ve commented off topic previously but in future will stick to the actual question asked as I feel my opinion on whether they feed their DC hasn’t been asked for - when their question was about whether the DC should ask to leave the table.

What is your opinion?
Should we try to stick to the topic when responding?

I think if you post then don't include any irrelevant info if you don't want it commented on.
