what word winds you up for no good reason?

such a poncy word with connotations of Mrs. Marple like places ,when actually people are talking about some awful sprawl of 60's housing beside the M3.

'Begs belief' isn't a phrase I've ever come across.

Oh yes hate crimbo

"It beggers belief" makes no sense, never heard it before some politition said it in a speach and then everyone seemed to be saying it. to say something is so incredulous it begs belief makes much more sense. It begs to be believed.

Oh and I do live in a village .
