Whether it was yourself or someone else, what is the stingiest thing that you have ever seen someone do?

It was when I was a poor student. I had made a pasta sauce that was really tasty. I offered some to my flatmate who said she'd like some, but that she didn't like my cheap pasta, so she'd cook some of hers. When it was ready to be served, I found that she'd only cooked enough pasta for herself.

I reuse tea bags

When I was a student my flatmate asked me not to cook my baked potato in the oven because of the cost.... she also chased me for repayment immediately after loaning me £1

I invited a notoriously stingy friend to my hen do. She was probably the wealthiest of the lot of us - well paid job as a buyer for a large supermarket chain. A couple of my friends were unemployed so really were skint, so we kept it to quite a tight budget. We went for a weekend to cp, took all our own food and booze, and just went to free swimming as an activity.
Before arriving we did a supermarket shop - stingy friend opted out as she had brought her own stuff. So while we cooked a spag bol and drank wine on an evening she sat there with her ready meal and tesco value vodka and coke.
After swimming she was putting on some Clinique moisturizer on her face and a friend mentioned her skin was dry and could she borrow some. Instead of just handing her the tube she rationed out the tiniest blob onto my friends finger.
On the way back we decided to stop off at a small town to take a break and look around. We went to a cafe for a drink and cake but when said friend saw prices she left and went off alone to Greg's instead.
We had rented a mini van and it needed to be dropped off at point of rental - she lived an hour away but there was a train connection for about a tenner. She whinged all the way home about wanting to be dropped off and at one point got quite aggressive about it - but it would have meant friend who was driving going an hour out of her way and back again, so two hours extra driving, when the train station was literally right there. Driving friend was going through a rough patch and was quite fragile at the time and didn't need the constant bullying the entire journey. I honestly thought at one point she was going to cry.
My (other) friend who organized the whole thing, and hadn't met her before that was so pissed off because it was literally such a simple weekend and she had done everything to keep costs low, laid out the expenses beforehand, and couldn't understand why someone would come when they couldn't afford it.
A few years on her stinginess seems to have got a bit better but this is definitely a mh issue and not a financial one.

At Christmas there would be a tub of Celebrations or similar in work. One woman took a handful of sweets to put in her daughter's Christmas stocking. She wasn't short of a few bob either.

Reusing teabags that only make one decent cup in the first place. I threw the tea away and made a proper fresh cup.

Woman who eating far more than her share of a shared dish leaving none of some of the elements for others at all.

Haggling in a charity shop for some Lego that was already exceptionally cheap.

It wasn't me.

I have a relatively rich, but super stingy family member who has:

Walked off with half a cooked Turkey after I cooked and hosted Xmas Day for everyone ( because they bought it )

Made sure they had the Xmas cracker cheapo toy they had won ( no children, I have DC )

Picked up a pound coin off my bathroom floor and pocketed it ( it fell out of my pocket earlier and I had hands full/distracted )

Divided up our joint inheritance down to the last penny...( Something like 46p at the end of the amount, so we all got the amount plus 46p - I was a struggling single mum )

So many more..

Any stories yourself OP? Smile

Many years ago, a colleague who earned at least 3x my salary took my Q magazine and photocopied the articles they wanted to read.

Oh god this one is really embarrassing. A few years ago we went to a soft play with DS and DD. At this particular place they do a 3 tier menu for portion sizes (toddler, child and adult). DS had serious food issues so I always ordered him the smallest portion I could get away with. DH went to order food and when it came we ate it. After the kids had gone back to play I noticed there were a lot of leftovers on DS plate so I checked the receipt and he had order the child meal instead of the toddler one. I actually made DH take the (half eaten) food back and get a refund on the difference 😳😳😳 my sister was there and it wasn't until she looked and me and said how tight that was that I analysed the situation! I'm definitely the tightest one of the family (thanks dad!) but that was way too far! I curl up and die a little every time I remember it 🤣
