How much do you drink?

Had a chat with a lady at work today who was saying she thought she had a drink problem so I responded with the quantity that I drunk over the weekend and it shocked me when I added it up. I had a bottle of red on Fri, 3 bottles out with a friend on Sat (1 and half each) and a bottle last night. It just reminded me because sitting here I thought, I'd love a glass of wine, and under normal circumstances I'm sure I'd have had another bottle tonight. I don't get drunk on a bottle though and I never get hangovers now matter how much I drink. I will be cutting down drastically between now and the Xmas do's. I just wondered how much do others drink on average?

dont drink much at all. maybe one drink every few months. thats it.

I'm with you wigwambam, I don't drink at all, either sensible or very boring, I'm incredibly cheap to take out

rarely - I'll have a glass or two of red if we're dining with friends other than that - nowt!

Secretly - I can drink a bottle of red at home with no difficulty, no drunkeness and no ill effect. Other days I can have 2 glasses and be a newt. I hate units as much as I hate calories. I drink to wind down and relax, can really overdo it on occasion but we all know when we've been overdoing it - it's what's right for you that counts. Hate government guidelines. Respect personal guidelines.

Before i met my dh i used to drink every day preaty much, me and neighbour were always downing wine! i also went out 3 times a month and more if i could! Since meeting DH i go out prob once evry 4 months and dont drink at all when im home cos DH is tee total! I love have guests to stay cos i can have a drink with them. My MIL asked if i was drinking this christmas cos im (her words) really funny when i drink! Alas i will be having a dry crimbo cos im hoping to be pregnant!!!!!! Cant tell the MIL that though can i!

omg! last weekend i drank probably three quarters of a wine box (friend had the rest) and downed ten shots i take it thats bad then?

I glass of wine from time to time, a full bottle... never!, well... problem is I don't get funny when I drink. I just fall sleep flat over the table!

I rarely drink - I find it makes me sleepy and very red in the face (even after half a glass of wine !) - I think I am allergic to it . I am sure I used to drink more in my student days - but never much.

I agree with the others though - you can build up a tolerance to alcohol and no hangovers is a bad sign. Good luck with cutting down.

Secretly, I can quite easily drink a bottle of wine (and more...) and feel no pain most nights of the week. I know it's dangerous and I've really got to stop it, it's purely a habit - and enjoyable, but I'm with you - hoping to abstain until about 18th December. We'll have to see if we can manage it!! Don't really like admitting to the amount I drink - when I know it's way too much.

I love and adore white wine and if left to my own devices could drink a bottle every night quite easily, however, I make a big effort to watch what I drink.

Like marthamoo, I cut down in a big way by going on Weightwatchers, then cut down to almost zero when pg. This helped to break the habit and now dp and I share a bottle about 3 times per week. Can't say I'm any thinner for it though, cake is a great alcohol substitute!

i have a gin and tonic every night, 2 on a fri and sat unless im working (i work nights) or driving, are you all going to lynch me?

I have a g and t every night and nearly always have red wine with dinner.

i am a complete lightweight drinking wine. One glass and I feel drunk. Spirits are much easier to handle . Beer makes me wee too much

Don't drink at all! I have never liked the taste ... but dp more than makes up for the fact that I dont drink..
he has between 4 and 8 cans EVERY night but knows that this is way too much.

Well I have been a very good girl this week - no booze at all and none tonight. DH and I are going out tomorrow night and dd is staying overnight at my mums so I will renege on my pledge to stay sober until 18th Dec because I will be drinking tomorrow night, in fact coz dh and I so rarely get to go out together we are both aiming to get blotto, reminisce about our youth and freedom and dance like two old farts. Also will be drinking on 2nd Dec coz thats dhs Xmas do and then sober until 18th Dec at my Xmas do.
Its very easy actually, haven't missed it at all this week. I won't buy it for the house, makes it too easy to open if its sitting there ready and waiting.
