Ok! DOUBLE buggies help!

Ok,

I need a double buggy that is practical, comfy and is small enough to fit into the boot of a focus! It needs to keep it's re-sell price (buggy-a-holic!), be suitable for a newborn and a toddler and be a bit sylish!

I need to start the organising, so would anyone recommend a nice double buggy that fits some of that criteia?

I have looked at the Phil & Teds, Mamas and Papas Aria and the Pulse! Yet I'm still stuck and I want to order soon!

Please can anyone help?

Thanks

All i would recommend is a 'Top Gun' style one rather than a side by side one.

Much easier to navigate and baby sleeps in the back one and toddler gets to be nosey in the front.

Do not buy an Aria I did (DP didn't like the P&T why did I ever listen to him) I hated it with a passion. Cosy toes too big and never fitted it properly. Always felt the seats weren't wide enough (DD1 was 18 months and is tiny and she looked squashed in it), parcel tray is a nightmare and scrapped off the ground after a week. Wheels are tiny so it's difficult to "bump" up kerbs.
It just seemed really flimsy and not well made.

I would buy a P&T over anyone now.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/12/2007 21:27

P+T all the way

snooks · 13/12/2007 21:29

Definitely P&T

I've got a McLaren Twin Techno. Pretty modern looking, not too expensive and folded fits in the boot of a Corsa!!!

whitechocchip · 14/12/2007 20:39

Thanks for all the great replies, sorry wasn't on net sooner!

I probably 90% convinced on the p&t but at the same time not sure I can get my head around the baby being by my legs!

What do they do for stimulation?
What happens when they're at the stage of wanting to see things?
Where do you put your changing bag/shopping?

Sorry for all the questions just find this part of the buggy the worse bit!

Have you seen P & T do a side by side double now?

Sam100 · 14/12/2007 20:43

here

MrsDandOllie · 14/12/2007 20:43

P&T!

You can hang toys off the back of the front seat for baby to look at (kind of like a mobile mobile lol)... when they get to the stage of wanting to see things then they go in the doubles seat (can go in from 4 months in the P&T sport version as doubles seat reclines)
With newborn bit lying flat it IS hard to use shopping basket at the bottom but you can get pannier bags (one each side) which are fab and you can hang your change bag over the handles or use one of the pannier bags as a change bag!
I have 2 bag clips that I keep on the handle of mine for hanging carrier bags one each side when I go to the supermarket.
HTH!

whitechocchip · 14/12/2007 20:54

Have seen the p&t side by side but not sure if I like the look of it as it would still be too 'big' to fit in shops

I like the idea of attaching a mobile inside the seat so that there is some stimulation for new bubba!

Oh think I'm swinging this way now for the p&t, anyone know where I could get the buggy and doubles kit for £400 and under? Any good websites?

I attached toys while dd2 was very young. Now dd2 is 11mths and dd1 is 2 tommorow and dd2 still prefers being in the back seat. She still looks around at what is going on and is actually quite happy to be tucked away I think.

whitechocchip · 15/12/2007 21:10

Bump, pretty please?

I would look at the nipper with the swivel wheel if that fits in your boot it is much lighter than the P&T, nearly as narrow and has more shopping storage.

CarGirl · 15/12/2007 21:16

out & about nipper/nippa?????

Sidge · 15/12/2007 21:21

Out N About Double Nipper 360.

Fabbest double ever. Light, comfy, and is actually narrower than it looks (I haven't found a doorway yet it won't fit through).

Tandems are hellish as the toddler gets bigger and heavier - awkward to steer and hard to get up and down kerbs.

I also used a friend's P&T and hated that too (but I think I'm in a minority there!)

BibiJesus · 15/12/2007 21:21

We've got the out n about nipper 360 - love love love it! Lightweight, turns on a tuppence and comes in a few colours now.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 15/12/2007 21:22

have you lookd on ebay?

BibiJesus · 15/12/2007 21:22

Also, have not found a doorway it can't go through yet - including the ones at the Drs surgery! Surprisingly narrow, doesn't look it, but it is.

forkhandles · 15/12/2007 21:24

I thought the Nipper to when I read this thread on Thursday as I have one and it's great value for money and a fab buggy. But I agree that it might not fit in your boot. It's easy to fold and lightweight, but doesn't fold down small.

coby · 15/12/2007 21:34

I have a Mothercare Phoenix which I really rather like. Its a tandem not side but side and I like the colour - red. It wasn't expensive really compared with many others out there and I'm really glad of that because DD1 decided to walk everywhere as soon as I bought it.

I kept it 'just in case' and will now be using it For DD2 and DC3 (no way is DD2 going 'free range' yet!)

My main reasons for buying it were

Price
Seat size - many doubles have small small seats that bigger toddlers may feel cramped in so check that out before buying online
Colour
Car Seat compatible
Folds down easily and small enough to fit in my focus
Easy to adjust seats
Extras and parts are cheap too
Fits through all dorrways I've tried it through
Easy to steer
I can see over it (I'm 5'2 but found a lot of tandems hard to steer as I couldn't see the front end
Would have loved to try a P&T though (but one thing I have always wondered is the bottom traveller being so low down and close to exhaust fumes direct from the car in town - probably not a problem at all as many seem very happy with them)

deeeja · 16/12/2007 23:13

Mountain buggy urban.
Steers like a dream.
Can fit through any doorway I have come across.
So light to push even when my five year old perches on the front!
Great basket!
