ds will be 3 in January. Now he has about 4 friends because he's always been with a childminder.
His friends have recently had big 3rd birthday parties, with about 20 kids there but theyre all in nursery so have people to invite.

I cant organise a party for 5 so didnt know what was the best bet.
Should I just pay for them all to get in a playcentre then treat to food afterwards?

You could organise a party for five children at home.

LOL! I know how you feel on that score but some people apparently like parties in their own home

A trip to soft play with food at the end sounds like a nice idea. You could take cake and/or parties bags with you too.

Am asuuming party is in winter time, otherwise trip to the park for a picnic would ne nice also.

Or you could do a ceramics party at a craft cafe place.

Why can't you organise a party for 5 at home?

What about taking them to an animal farm or something similar and then somewhere else for a meal (like you mention)?

christmosschops30 · 10/12/2007 15:50

because mishymoo I dont want to! end of
no animal farms nearby us, plus a bit cold in january particularly given the current weather.
Ceramics sounds nice, I know we have one quite close by, will find out prices

But glad you think the soft play and food would be ok. Seems to be what boistrous boys liie doing best at the moment

oh alright don't blame you really

I guess soft play or ceramics it is then! I'm sure they will love it

Ds1 was 3 recently and ds2 was 2. We didn't have a party for either of them. The way I look at it we've got years and years of parties ahead of us so I'm putting it off as long as I can.

OverMyDeadStuffedTurkey · 10/12/2007 16:00

I'd say, at 3, you can get away with not having a party!

But it is winter, so a trip to soft play with his friends is a great idea, they need to burn off that extra energy, and if my DS is anytihng to go by, love soft play centres!

Yes I probably would have just done a family party at home like we have the last 2 years, but his friends have had them and feel like I should do something for him as he keeps talking about his 'birthday party'

Thanks for all your suggestions

Have just gone to a 3 yr old's birthday party at a softplay centre - they LOVED it! Great for that age group. I think the ceramic place, although it sounds lovely, might be a bit too much for them, esp. if they're the boisterous sort.

Having had a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old birthday party at home, I am definitely looking at outside venues for next Feb when dd is 3! We're considering taking her and a few close friends bowling - would your ds like that? Dd adores it, we use those metal ramp things and have the sides up and she loves pushing the ball off 'all by herself' and knocking down the pins! Then food afterwards. It's that or a church hall for her entire nursery group, the 2 yr olds were just about containable in our house, I am NOT having 20 3 yr olds jumping about the place!
