Articulate? A few years old, but good game

On a recent thread Cluedo came highly recommended so I've gone for that this year. About right for almost 10.
Have I misunderstood op, have you already got this?

pukkapatch · 10/12/2007 13:50

Game where you go "through life" - graduate from school, get a job, get married, have kids, pay bills (actually a lot more fun than it sounds). Instead of throwing a dice you spin a wheel which LO's like a lot (in me experience).

My niece has a game called Labyrinth which is good fun, simple and quite addictive. You have to get your piece across a board to a certain piece of treasure, but the board is made of lots of interconnecting tiles and each player moves a tile each turn. Lots of fun frustrating your opponents!

Not a board game but uno. Fantastic game. My two , 10 and 7 , love it. We often play and it isn't a faff to set up etc

Iklboo · 10/12/2007 13:54

Do they still do Frustration? With the pop-o-matic dice? I used to love that when I was a wee un

We just have the bog standard, costs 3.99 or whatever, version.

Introduced it to another family last night and they loved it too!

What I like is that you can easily have a quick game before bedtime. Or you can have a point scoring epic that can last a rainy day!

A 10 year should whup you easily at that...

Carcassone www.boardgamegeek.com/game/822

This one doesn't take too long. And if he likes it, there are lots of variations.

Again, easy to set up and play, last about 20-30 minutes, even when you're doing really well it can all go hideously wrong and vice versa.

Light, silly, cut-throat.

Colosseum.

We've just got this one and I love it - it is rather more complex than the others I've listed.

Sorry, I've gone on a bit

Would second uno. My two, 9 and 10, like Othello at the moment. I've got them Upwords for Christmas. Pass the bomb is a good family game, they do two versions.

procrastinatingparent · 10/12/2007 14:23

Another vote for uno. I grew up playing it with my family and we all still love it. It's cheap, portable, easy-to-understand, involves both luck and tactics, and is accessible as soon as they know their colours and numbers and understand about taking turns, so many different ages can play. My DS has played it since he was 6 and really enjoys it. Agree you can just have one quick game or make it into a mega-scoring marathon.
