between the round and oval ones in terms of cooking .. or is it just personal preference

and do you think a Le Creuset casserole pot will be better than an SKK one or would the SKK be better

THere is a shop at the GLEN MACARTHUR DESIGNER OUTLET MALL in Ashford Kent.

Don't know anything anbout the diff pots.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 11/11/2004 18:55

Do the skk go in the oven as well as on the hob?

I'm going to get a Le Creuset pot for casseroles etc as the one I use at the moment is only for the hob.

LIZS · 11/11/2004 18:58

Think it is personal preference but if you want a cast iron one to go on hob or in oven then I think round makes more sense in that it fits most hobs better. However oval might be easier to lift in and out of the oven. Le Creuset generally isn't non stick (fry pans and some are) so that could be a deciding factor between the 2.

I find SKK and alike (depsite what they say) does scratch in the long run.
I love my Le Creuset pans !

I have oval and round.... like both - sorry that doesn't help.
However use oval more.... maybe because it isn't as big as my round one.

nasa · 11/11/2004 19:02

ditto answer as pupuce's one - Le Creuset rocks

Twiglett · 11/11/2004 19:02

The SKK have some super-duper non-stick surface that you can use metal implements and never wears out .. you're supposed to be able wash them by just swilling them out .. and Queen Delia recommends them

But I like the look of Le Creuset better

.... oh conundrum, conundrum, thy name is casserolr

How big is the oval one pupuce?

I was thinking of the biggest 28inch one .. but can find the 22inch one on half-price .. can't help thinking it might be too small

DH and I bought a Le C about a year ago, then a little while later my vile SIL (a very long story) bought him a Cousances in blue, on a day trip to France, and it was much cheaper. I cannot remember the % difference. Found this on the net....

It is very similiar to Le Creuset and the company was purchased by Le Creuset, just like Le Creuset purchased the Cousances company.
Cousances was another line of enameled cast iron cookware made in France.

The only difference we could see was that it lacked the little rubber resters for the lids when not in use.

I don't think it's inch BTW... but mine is 25
I can cook for 4 easily, I make bolognaise and can freeze some, I make soups, chili,...

SKK does sound good then but the look is everything but homely cooking IYSWIM

If you let the bottom of your Le Creuset burn you will have to scrub!!!! But if you have or plan to have an AGA - they're great !

pupuce · 11/11/2004 19:13

Actually my round one is a Cousances (red) and my oval one is Le Creuset.... same quality!
