Completely daft question, but please indulge me, I need to know how long children use children's clothes hangers for.

When do they change to the bigger grown-up ones? I really have no idea but I need to know because it will determine which wardrobe I buy for them.

I don't use them at all really. I tend to fold small clothes and just use a chest of drawers, so only really start hanging things up when they are bigger (around 7 or so) when big hangers are fine. Maybe a dress or two before then, but hardly anything and not worth using a small wardrobe for

also for boys I find there is nothing much TO hang up. Ever! All foldable

Until the clothes fall off them I should think .

Buy the bigger one - save time and money later.

We're still on kids hangers for DS2 9, as they are the only ones that fit in his wardrobe - will move to big ones next year, when he moves bedroom, but they are such nice hangers, I'll miss them

Hanging children's clothes? Does not compute

IdrisYouaMerryChristmas · 07/12/2007 14:10

DS (4) doesn't have anything hung up. DD (2.2) has some dresses hung up, with small hangers.

Don't buy a special wardrobe for children, buy a normal one and put in your own shelves/baskets etc such as Elfa.

I hang at least half of my daughter's clothes on a gorgeous wooden white painted rail (with matching hangers) I got at a lovely children's furniture shop (Baudou) in Paris for the princely sum of 90 euros. It will last her a good while yet and when she grows out of it I will buy her a proper grown-up wardrobe.

DD (9) still using children's hangers because she is quite small still. Probably DS moved around 10/11 because he is quite tall and broad

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I guess I'm a hanger rather than a folder - clothes get put straight onto hangers when they come out of the washing machine, dry on a rail then straight up to the hanging rail in the dc's bedroom. Ironing? Wossat then?

I use the hangers that come with the clothes and hang up all dd's (4) and ds's (1) tops so they dont crease (I also dont iron much).
