Going to hairdressers - need inspiration; what shall I have done?

Have hairdressers appointment at 6:30pm tonight. Lst time I went, a couple of months ago, was first time in a year!

I currently have long, straight hair. Has a bit of shape round sides, but not much. And there's only one layer inthe back. Hair is just past the bottom of my shoulder blades/middle of back now. Have no fringe.

But I want a change. Have no idea how or what though!

Can't have it all off as have psorasis of the scalp, which goes into the nape of my neck.

And i has to be very easy to deal with. On work days especially I only really have enough time to wash i and brush it. It dries naturally on way to work.

Because of the psorasis I don't use a hair dryer unles I am going out, and I avoid styling products too for same reason, other than on special occasions. Don't wantit coloured because of irritation to psorasis either.

Any ideas???

Have to go and get DD from nursery soon, but will be back before I go to see if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks

Long hair is easier to deal with that short, on a day to day basis so I wouldn't recommend you have it all cut off (I did (sob) and regret it!). Depending on your face shape of course and your hairdresser should advise on what will and won't suit you, how about some choppy layers to the sides and back to give some movement? But keeping the length and still eliminating the need for irritating styling products.

Good luck!!

Sorry, no ideas, as I hate having my hair cut and avoid going. People say that you are supposed to go with a set of pictures from magazines showing styles you liked, and then the hairdresser will adapt it to your head. The best haircut I ever had was from a very obviously gay male hairdresser when I said, "Make it look very sexy," but I am too embarrassed to say this again to other hairdressers esp when all the other people in the salon are listening.

have you thoughtabout layers all over and a blunt fringe? this is what I'm grappling with at the moment, whether to go for a real fringe rather than a sort of slightly shorter bit that goes to the side and softens the look. my hair is so thick i have real problems when the style starts to grow out, hairdressers never put enough layers in.

tex111 · 10/11/2004 17:05

A fringe can be fun and easy. I think I'm going to have one cut in a few weeks. I figure on days when I just can't be bothered I can pull my hair back and just make the fringe look nice and (hopefully) I'll still look pulled together. I used to spend ages on my hair but just can't do that every day with DS now.

Gingerbear · 10/11/2004 17:09

Hula, you have lovely hair, I think long choppy layers would look great and make you look v sophisticated!!

Hulababy · 10/11/2004 17:31

You reckon long still then? Was toying with idea of having it cut off...but guess at least I can tie it back if I need to when long.

Fringe??? I have quite a rounded (dimples in cheeks and all) face to be honest Always have done. LOL! Would it suit?

I have a lot of hair. Each strand isn't thick - it's very flyaway, but I do have tons of it, so it appears thicker and heavier than it is. And it doesn't really hold a style (curls, waves, etc.) as it is.

Hmm....

personally don't think a fringe would suit you - but some long layers at the front would look nice would give it more texture but still allow you to put it up.

bundle · 10/11/2004 17:39

I haven't met you but from your mods. picture I'd say go for a fringe, maybe not too blunt and layers through the rest, finishing just below the shoulder then you can still tie back if necessary.

Hulababy · 10/11/2004 18:17

Ha ha! I just have to persuade myself NOT to just say "just a trim and tidy round" now. I am determine to have a proper cut - nmy hair needs it! Heck, I need it!
