I'm picking my own ring and struggling to decide out of these two!

2 (and seconding the suggestion to look at vintage/antique rings). Diamond solitaires are so bland and predictable.

Thatsplentyjack · 10/09/2021 13:18

Deep down you actually do know which one you really want. Write on to bits of paper each ring, get someone to do the hand behind the back thing, then pick one a hand, when they show you which one you picked you will know if it's the one you truley want because you will either get a little pang of joy, or a little pang of disappointment.

Sleeplessem · 10/09/2021 13:22

My personal preference is 1 the solitaire diamond, think they are classy and understated x

This is an excellent idea!

The first one!

Thatsplentyjack · 10/09/2021 13:55

Infact, go get a cup, scrunch the bits of paper up shake them around in the cup and come back and tell us which one it i. do it this instant! 🤣

Fivefourthreetwo · 10/09/2021 13:57

1

Congratulations

Summergarden · 10/09/2021 14:03

2 as the flower like cluster makes it more interesting and unique p.

Solitaire are are boring, everyone has them.

Ninkanink · 10/09/2021 14:04

I would say clusters are extremely trendy right now. Which also means they’re quite likely to date rather badly.

But at the end of the day, if you love it you love it! And if you feel a real affinity with the flower motif then it’ll always feel right to you whether it’s trendy/dated/popular or not.

SoupDragon · 10/09/2021 14:08

1 because it's elegant and understated.

However, it's not my engagement ring and it sounds like you actually prefer the flower cluster one.

DustyMaiden · 10/09/2021 14:14

No 1 mine is similar, got engaged in 1978

SirSamuelVimes · 10/09/2021 14:14

2: always go bling! Grin

Definitely worth looking at how a wedding band would fit with it though. My engagement ring is a cluster but it's raised so there's space for the wedding band to slot underneath. A curved wedding band would have annoyed me.

I would say though, if you really can't decide between the two, keep looking! Maybe have a play around on websites like this one to see if you can find something that really grabs you?

Ninkanink · 10/09/2021 14:21

❤️❤️❤️

Please come back and post a pic when it’s officially on your finger! I love an engagement ring thread...☺️

Boobieboobieboobie · 10/09/2021 14:23

They are both very pretty, the second I think, it looks a bit more unique.

Fair point, though I think the cluster ones are trying to be something there not. It looks flashier but the diamonds are cheaper
TableFlowerss · 10/09/2021 14:43

I like number 1 OP

Jerseygirl12 · 10/09/2021 14:44

I was going to say cluster
Enjoy your ring, it’s beautiful

meadowbleu · 10/09/2021 14:54

Not at all, it's a design thing, not a bling thing.

A cluster can have smaller, higher quality diamonds and a solitaire can be poor on all the grading scales.

@Hombadigada congratulations, wear the ring that gives you the most joy Flowers

ShaneTheThird · 10/09/2021 15:01

Was going to say 2. Congratulations op!

But they are bigger and more blingy. That’s fine, some people love that and some people maybe like it because it looks like a flower.

From a distance, it could be assumed it’s a more expensive ring (which is why some people would like it) but as you get closer and see it’s not one huge diamond, but several smaller ones.

You’re right about the quality but again, some people assume bigger = better and that’s certainly not always the case

ISpyCobraKai · 10/09/2021 16:33

I have a cluster, though not like that one and it certainly didn't have cheap stones.
