dp has been for a job interview with Zenith windows. It would be commission based although one sale a week would be enough to lie on. Does anyone have experience of this kind of work? We need to let the manager know our decision tomorrow!

i have done sales and if you are good at what you do and know every little detail about what you are selling you have 50 50 chance (if that!!) i gather you have a family, rent/mortgage etc personally i would say no as if he doesnt get that sale you dont eat so to speak!!! to much of a risk for me!! xxx

If you have to ask the question the answer is definitely no. Good luck

He probably will go for it - if he stays in his crappy job we'll prob lose the house anyway so we cant really pass up the chance to make so much money. His trade is actually a licencee (pub landlord!) so he can spend hours talking crap to random people which should help him sell!! I just wanted to see if anyone else has done it and how they get on......

Hi!
I've just started working with Bodyshop At Home, and that's commission based. We get 20% which is pretty good, so it really depends on what percentage commission he'd be on, as to whether he should go for it, andobviously whether you could cope if he has the odd bad week and doesn't earn very much. But it's something you both really need to talk about, and if he'll be happier in that job than the one he's in, then maybe it's the best option?

thanks jellybabe - I'm just about to start doing the bodyshop at home too! With his he would get 9 appointments a week - if he makes one sale thats £600 a week - and that is basically per sale so if he's good it's perfect!! Just hoping it works out!!

Lol! Well good luck with your parties! If he's going to be earning £600 a week, then I think, yes, definately go for it!

Thing is, what will it cost him to get that sale. If the customer signs up on his first visit, great, but he may find he has to visit 2 or 3 times to get the signature on the order, which gets expensive unless all his appointments are in a tight geographical area.

Also, he has to watch out for customers signing, then cancelling later.

1 more thing. I guess he won't get paid his commission until the windows are fitted and the customer has paid. Sometimes these companies will send a survey team out after order, then say they can't do the job (difficult structure or some such).

Honestly, he needs to look very carefully at the terms of this work. Ask yourself why these jobs become available so frequently.

Don't want to pour cold water on his enthusiasm, but don't want you to get into a mess either.
