Okay, so here is my general knowledge round of the pub quiz I am doing later this week. How many can you get right?

I want to test out whether I am making the quiz questions too hard or too easy. So I'm testing the general knowledge section out on you! If someone is with you, you may confer since there are usually teams of people at at a quiz - it isn't a solo pursuit

Rules are:

Give yourself 5 minutes only for all 10 questions (simulating quiz conditions), and no looking up any answers.

I will post the correct answers 1 hour from now.

The questions are:

1)Which animal performed the wedding in the Owl and the Pussycat?

2)To which flower family does garlic belong?

3)Although used as a nickname for US soldiers, what does GI actually stand for?

4)In which year was the first email sent?

5)In clothing care symbols, what does a plain circle signify?

6)Which is the only one of Richard Branson?s products not to have the Virgin name attached to it?

7)What does the V stand for in DVD?

8)From which animal does the perfume
ingredient ambergris originate?

9)What is the title of the person who gives the results of elections?

10)Nicholas Breakspear was the first and only British what?

well said, HMC That's what I was getting at when I said that you need to know the answers... but if you're being stern from the word go, should be ok

TenLordsaLapin · 03/12/2007 11:07

You see, HMC, that's why I don't DO pub quizzes

The thing about garlic is definitely true though, and pretty widely known

SquonkaClaus · 03/12/2007 11:07

lapin - when we next go to a pub quiz, will you be on our team?

TenLordsaLapin · 03/12/2007 11:09

LOL no, I only got 5 right anyway

handlemecarefully · 03/12/2007 11:30

Lapin you are a quiz master's nightmare [horror and crucifix held aloft emoticon].

Thanks for that re 'garlic' though, I shall be avoiding that question. Got the questions from an internet set and was wondering how far I could trust them......
